  “Friendly service and intimate atmosphere. Beautifully presented food. A pleasant experience. No need to think too much as the menu is short (expect around £85-100pp). May need to spend longer on the wine list, it’s huge! The food was novel and interesting, and largely local I understand, but beyond this, I didn’t always understand the vision. A lot of time had clearly been put into to preparation and presentation though and that cannot be understated. To sum it up : largely as expected, and pleased to have tried.”

  “We had such a fantastic experience at Meltons in York. We chose the tasting menu with the wine pairing, and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Every course was beautifully presented, full of flavour and clearly created with so much care and attention to detail. The wine pairing was fantastic and really complemented each dish. The staff were exceptional — so friendly, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to explain each course and the wines that accompanied it, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A truly special lunch and such a memorable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would absolutely recommend Meltons. We’ll definitely be back!”

  “We have been here before and my mum and dad have been coming for years. What a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. We went for the tasting short menu. The food and service were both absolutely outstanding. From the beautifully presented canapés (beef tartare was a personal favourite) to the main course of cod, which was cooked to absolute perfection. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully executed with a perfect explanation of each flavour and item on the plate. To finish was the most amazing raspberry soufflé. The service was attentive, warm and impeccable throughout, making the whole evening feel truly special. A wonderful restaurant with fantastic food and a team who clearly take great pride in what they do…we can’t wait to return”

  “We opted for the tasting menu and didn’t regret it one bit. The food was absolutely delicious. Presented beautifully and served in a friendly and professional manner without any pretentiousness. Every course tasted superb but the Beef Tartare canapés and the Isle of Wight Tomatoes were a firm favourite for me. We would definitely recommend it.”

  “The taste of the food and the wine was excellent, we had prompt service, the children were welcomed and they offered a beautiful surprise with a mini dessert platter for the birthday we were celebrating. The sommelier, Lucy Hjort, was a very nice lady, and we look forward to go there again!”

  “This is one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve ever had in the UK. The service is excellent and the attentive staff is incredibly knowledgeable. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is simply amazing. It’s a perfect balance of flavors, not overpowering but bursting with taste. There are also plenty of vegetarian options and the staff is always accommodating. Overall, it’s a truly exceptional experience and I’d give it a solid 5/5.”

  “Fabulous time at Meltons, tasting menu was delicious and amazing value! Great service from the team, owner took time to chat, lovely lady! Comfortable atmosphere could have sat there all night. Wonderful evening all round, will definitely return and highly recommend.”
