“Just went in to have a sandwich for lunch - really lovely food. Sandwich was a large roll with a good amount of filling and also came with very tasty chips (which was a surprise!)”

“Terrible food. £12 for two frozen, grey beef patties sandwiched between lettuce and bread - no cheese or sauce to speak of. The £11 pizza looked appealing but wasn't much better. New owners off to a poor start. That said, the new beer garden and indoor seating area has vastly improved. If you're keen for drinks and a game of pool I would highly recommend. If you're looking for food, go literally anywhere else.”

“Had a lovely time at the pub however ordered some chicken wings and what I was presented with was rather disappointing. The supposed chicken wings were more like chicken bites and when opened were raw. After mentioning to a member of staff he took them to the kitchen and came back to reassure me that this was what they always looked like and were reheated so couldn’t possibly be raw. Do not order the chicken wings.”

“As a vegan, I was a little disappointed by the food options. There are only a limited number of vegan choices, and when I asked if the cheese in my meal could be swapped for a vegan alternative, they didn’t have any. It would be great to see the menu become a bit more inclusive, as offering simple swaps like vegan cheese would make a big difference. That said, the staff were really lovely and helpful, and the beer garden is amazing!”

“Visited the Charles for lunch on a weekday and sat outside in the sun. Food was great, special mention to Steve the chef who was able to accommodate a specific request from one of our party, great service will definitely come again!”
