About The Podymore inn
The Podymore Inn is a steak house pub in Yeovil, with a bar where drinks are ordered and Sharp's Doombar on tap. The Sunday carvery anchors the roast offering, and a meat feast platter is made for two to share. Steak features across the rest of the menu, so the kitchen suits those who come for a cut of beef. A private dining room gives larger parties a space of their own, and reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Steak draws the most praise, from a medium rare ribeye with all the trimmings and a tomahawk called simply excellent to a birthday steak one diner named the best they had ever had. Close behind come a steak pie, Portuguese desserts, fish and chips, and whitebait, with generous portions and well kept Sharp's Doombar and Butcombe ales. Reviewers also single out friendly staff, including a young waitress described as kind and eager, and one family of 18 was fitted in at short notice for Sunday lunch. The complaints centre on large group bookings and kitchen consistency. One party of 13 got food well after the booked time, sent back undercooked chicken nuggets, and saw a medium rare steak return first well done and dry, then rare on one side and blue on the other. Another group sharing meat platters found too few chips and veg, and a Sunday carvery arrived a bit cold with slightly overdone beef. After the second steak failed, the landlady removed it from the bill.

“We popped in for an unplanned family lunch, and what a lovely find! There were three of us, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Gina served us and was lovely, making our visit even more enjoyable. The pub was spotlessly clean, with really lovely decor and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was amazing, made with fresh ingredients, served piping hot, and the portions were very generous. We had the ploughman’s, fish and chips, and whitebait and chips, and everything was delicious. Sorry, no photos as I completely forgot to take any! 😊 We highly recommend this lovely village pub. Great food, lovely service, beautiful surroundings, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Pre booked a party of 13, arrived on time to the table set for 12. Although 13 were confirmed and 13 meals preordered. Food arrived about an hour after the time booked. The meal ordered by my daughter, simple chicken nuggets, at the age of 9 she was able to identify that they were not cooked and in comparison to others that had the same they looked like they hadn’t even seen the oven. We sent them back and they came back a little better but at least they were hot. The person we were there to celebrate ordered a steak, medium rare, it came out well done and dry. It was returned as it wasn’t good enough to warrant the £60/70 price tag (I can’t remember the exact price). They offered to cook another. It came out with little to no sear and one side had barely seen any heat, one side rare and the other blue. It was almost impossible to cut and certainly not edible. By the time it come out again everyone else had finished and the birthday person barely ate anything. The ‘manager’ offered to knock of 50% for a meal that wasn’t touched as it was so bad. After going and speaking to the ‘landlady’ decided that it would be removed from the bill. The staff took over 30 mins to remove finished plates from the table. The person we were there celebrating had to go home via a takeaway to get a meal. Completely unacceptable and I am unable to recommend to anyone.”
