About The King Alfred
The King Alfred is a pub on Leigh Rd in Street, with guest rooms for overnight stays, so visitors can eat and sleep under one roof. The kitchen prepares its pub food fresh, with a carvery and a mixed grill among the dishes. The bar pours wines and ales alongside the food. Guests staying in the rooms are a short stroll from Clarks Village. The pub is run by hosts who greet customers themselves, and it serves as a village local for the area.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday carvery is what reviewers raise most, with one describing meat that melted in the mouth and gravy that was a meal in itself, and another calling it lovely. Close behind is the home cooked food more broadly, including a mixed grill, and a stay where the breakfast and evening meals both drew praise. Several describe friendly staff, a locals vibe, a village pub feeling friendly again after new management, and an enclosed beer garden. Overnight guests mention clean, comfortable rooms, a small fridge, and green space a short walk away for dogs. The complaints are about service and timing. One party of five for a birthday meal reports about an hour and a half for food with only two tables occupied and bar staff uninterested in serving drinks. Another waited half an hour for egg, chips and ham with one other person in the bar. A third found no one there at the posted lunchtime opening and a delivery driver unable to get in. One reviewer called the food only ok, and another spoke to the owner, who was lovely, and met a cute little dog.

“Arrived at 12.30 today Thursday 28th may for a family meal, following previous enjoyable visits. Posted opening time 1200 onwards! No one there! Delivery driver couldn't gain access. IF YOU AIN'T OPEN, SAY SO ON LINE! You have probably lost our trade in perpetuity”
