About Warren House Inn

Warren House Inn is a pub on Postbridge in Yelverton, a 19th-century moorland inn at the top of a hill in Dartmoor National Park with views over the moors. The bar has open fires, and one of them has burned for many years, which gives the building a working hearth for cold days on the moor. Oak beams run through the interior. The bar, the dining areas and a family area are separate spaces, so groups can settle where they suit. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar, where the pub pours real ales and serves hearty pub food, with coffee and tea for those not drinking beer. The pub takes walk-ins. Dogs are welcome, and dog ice-cream is on offer.

Customer Review Summary

The caveats carry weight. One diner who booked for a birthday describes a limited menu with a single roast option, burgers that were undercooked, frozen chips, a cold roast with raw meat, and a stomach ache afterward. Another found the cheeseburger not worth its price and the pudding top slightly burnt. One visitor found the pub shut in the afternoon, and parking is called limited by one reviewer, plentiful by others. A reviewer who visited in summer adds that the sheep run off when approached.

“This is great in the summer for picnic benches and spectacular views, whilst being cosy and welcoming in the winter. Beer and food is good, hearty and quick. The staff are friendly and keep on top of what can be busy at peak times.”

“My wife and I like to travel around the uk and eat at various countryside pubs. This is by far our favourite, The setting/location is fantastic! The food is always delicious and generous portions. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Dog friendly, plenty of parking, stunning views and hikes nearby. We have tried most of the menu over the last 10 years and it has all been top notch!”

“Menu had a good selection of both lunch and dinner items. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even had some dog ice-cream for my 4-legged companion. Wonderful views too which was lovely while we ate. Very clean inside, didn't see a spec of dust! We very much enjoyed the visit.”

“If there is a perfect location for a pub, this is absolutely it. Situated right in the middle of Dartmoor National Park at the top of a hill, Warren House Inn offers outdoor bench seating with views that are nothing short of astonishing. Having a cold pint while taking in that vast, rolling landscape is an incredible experience. Given how remote and isolated the location is, the pricing is reasonable. It is highly versatile since you can stop by just for a casual drink or sit down for a full-fledged meal. On the hot day I visited, the staff were brilliant, welcoming everyone with smiles and great hospitality despite the busy heat. The chips were absolutely amazing and hit the spot perfectly. Inside, the pub is incredibly cozy with a lovely fireplace that looks perfect for colder days. Whether you are stopping for their great selection of beers or just a coffee, it is an unforgettable spot on the moors.”
