Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the River Thames setting, with outdoor tables and views of the water and Windsor Castle, though one notes it turns chilly once the sun goes in. The food draws mixed reactions. Praise goes to the free flow frites, the vegan burger, the twice-baked soufflé, the scallops, the french onion soup and the moules, plus a breakfast with hot chocolate. Close behind are the complaints. The steak frites is called disappointing, with fries compared to fast food, and a rib-eye is described as poor quality. A lamb ragu had been microwaved and was removed from the bill, and seafood pasta shrimp was pre-frozen. A salmon arrived only warm in the centre, and a sirloin came with wilted rocket instead of the listed baby gem. Service is uneven: some call it friendly, while others describe forgotten water, a manager who never arrived and a birthday lunch where salads were sent back and returned looking the same. One diner called an orange wine steeply marked up. In that birthday case, the manager apologised and gave the guest of honour something to celebrate.

“★★★★★ An absolutely wonderful experience at Côte Windsor! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and full of flavour, while the service was outstanding — friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. A special mention to Xhesi, who was absolutely amazing! She was incredibly helpful, kind and attentive throughout our visit, and really made us feel welcomed and looked after. Her warm smile and professionalism made the experience even more special. 🌟 The location is beautiful, especially with the views of the River Thames, and the atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed. It’s the perfect place for a lovely lunch or dinner. We absolutely loved our visit and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended — and a big thank you to Xhesi for making our experience so memorable! ❤️🥂✨”

“I had hoped someone from Head Office would have contacted us by now. I booked a table at Cote Windsor for my mum's 92nd birthday on 5th July for 1.30om. My sister and mum had Salad Nicoise which was badly made and poorly presented. Eg whole leaves of cos lettuce were slapped on the plate. It looked appalling. Both returned their food after complaining. About 20 minutes later, the same poorly presented dish was brought to the table. My burger was the wrong one. I asked to return it and bring the one I ordered. We had to ask for ice and lemon with the bottle of sparkling water. The lemon arrived as thick cut whole slices. We were stunned. Did the staff not know how to cut lemon slices for drinks? Not once did the waitress come over to ask if everything was alright. We decided to leave after the main course and told the manager as we were leaving. We refused to pay the service charge. He said he was sorry and hoped we would return. He kindly gave my mum something to celebrate her birthday. We said that my mum's 92nd birthday lunch was ruined by the poor quality food and service. I was really upset because I had previously eaten at the same restaurant and really enjoyed the food. So I recommended Cote Windsor to my mum for her birthday lunch. I felt really embarrassed about what happened. Very very disappointed Cote Brasserie.”

“The steak frites should be removed from the menu. (Wish I had read the latest comments before ordering!) Moules were quite good. French fries are like McDonald fries (not like the one usually served in a French brasserie) the picture from the website are also obsolete and show a different kind of French fries. The wine was good and there was a good selection. For the price it’s disappointing. It felt more like a food chain restaurant. It was also very hot in the restaurant and it was very hard to get the attention of the waiter who was VERY busy cleaning behind the bar of the main dining area.”

“Disappointed with my visit to Cote this evening. We booked only about an hour in advance for a 6:30 meal but got placed in the middle where it was quite warm. We asked to be moved but the waiter said no, they were fully booked- the resteraunt at this time was empty. We asked if some of the doors could be open but he said no because it would mean some tables had to be moved. We asked for the manager, lovely waiter said he was on his way…… he never came. I ordered sirloin which the menu said served with ‘baby gem wedge’ when it arrived it came with wilted rocket. I asked waiter about the baby gem, he had no clue so went off to ask, got another waiter arriving with a half baby gem with dressing …. Just what I expected but didn’t get originally. My partner went to the loo, used a stall, no way of closing the door easily, toilet generally dirty, doesn’t look like the corners (skirting etc) had been cleaned just where men generally walk around. We asked for manager twice but nobody turned up. Very disappointing visit. Google review also completed.”

“Booked for a social gathering for 7 people, plenty of options for all including vegetarians. Views of the river and Windsor as well as the fine service made the evening even more special. I opted for the Vegan Burger for mains which comes with fries and there is the added option of unlimited top up! My starter was Twice-Baked Soufflé Melted Camembert with creamy onion sauce which left me wanting alot more. My dessert was Tarte au Citron Raspberries with crème Chantilly which tasted ever so good. Definitely be back I am sure.”
