Quick info
About Akaya Lounge
Akaya Lounge is a Turkish restaurant and shisha lounge in Slough, at 309 High St. The menu spans halal Indian, Turkish and Pan-Asian cooking, so a table can order across all three. Lamb shish comes with spiced rice, and the mixed grill and the Akaya special lamb chops sit alongside curries such as butter chicken. Shisha is served in the garden area, which gives the lounge a second setting beyond the dining room. A singer performs live music for diners.

Customer Review Summary
Mixed grill is the dish diners name most, called delicious, juicy and smoky, with the lamb chops and several curries close behind. Others single out crispy dynamite chicken wings, lamb shish with fluffy cumin rice, butter chicken and fresh Peshwari naan. Live music, the shisha area in the garden and birthday meals come up repeatedly, and several call the staff friendly. The complaints are specific. One lunchtime diner describes drinks arriving only after asking, a long wait for food, and a mandatory service charge that felt unjustified. A family reports that a kebab listed as Turkish was extremely spicy, that the server said they should have asked, and that the toilets were very dirty, so they declined to pay for the meal. One reviewer's flavourless passion fruit daiquiri was swapped for a mojito without fuss, and that reviewer suggests asking for it sweet.

“This was our first visit to this restaurant. We came as a family with our children, who have eaten Turkish food on many occasions. One of the dishes we ordered was listed under the Turkish section of the menu. However, the kebab we were served was extremely spicy, which was not what we expected from a dish described as Turkish. Traditional Turkish cuisine is generally known for its use of herbs and aromatic spices rather than chilli heat. If a dish is prepared differently, we feel this should be made clear on the menu. When we raised this with the server, we were told that we should have asked whether the dish was spicy. We found this response disappointing. When a dish is advertised as Turkish, most customers would reasonably expect it to reflect the style of that cuisine. It should not be the customer’s responsibility to check whether it departs from what is generally expected. We were also concerned by the overall cleanliness. The toilet facilities were very dirty and had a strong unpleasant smell, which made the experience particularly uncomfortable when dining with young children. We paid in full for all of our drinks. However, given that the food did not match the description on the menu and because of our concerns about hygiene, we did not feel it was appropriate to pay for the meal. We hope the restaurant will take this feedback on board by providing clearer menu descriptions, responding more constructively to customer concerns, and improving its standards of cleanliness.”

“I visited this place and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Everything we ordered was incredibly delicious and perfectly prepared. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on! However, what truly stood out to me was the exceptional honesty and dedication of a staff member named Mansour. We accidentally left our belongings behind, and he literally ran after us for quite a distance just to return them. His integrity was deeply touching—it’s so heartwarming to see such genuine goodness in people. Huge respect and appreciation to Mansour, and kudos to the management for hiring such outstanding individuals. Highly recommended!”

“This is from Saudi Eats in London, with 90k+ followers across social platforms. Instagram & Tiktok: saudieats.ksa If there were ever a place that deserved more than five stars, it would be @akayaloungeuk , easily a fifty-star experience. Step inside and you’re instantly wrapped in a stunning atmosphere where elegance meets comfort. The décor is beautifully curated, creating the perfect backdrop whether you’re there for a lively night out, a relaxed family meal, or an unforgettable shisha experience with friends. Add in the rhythm of live music, and the whole place comes alive with energy and charm. But what truly steals the show is the food. Every dish arrives bursting with flavour, generously portioned, and presented with real care. The mixed grill is an absolute standout—perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with smoky goodness. The curries? Rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying. And the Akaya special lamb chops… simply perfection tender, flavourful, and unforgettable. Akaya Lounge isn’t just a place you go to unwind. It’s a destination that truly satisfies. Beyond the vibe and the visuals, it’s a restaurant at heart, where every visit leaves you full, happy, and already planning your next return.”

You can really tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the cooking. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the portion sizes were generous too. What really made the visit stand out was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Service was quick, professional and genuinely warm, which made the whole evening feel relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was great as well — stylish, comfortable and perfect for a night out with friends or family. Overall, I’d highly recommend Akaya Lounge. Amazing food, wonderful staff and a great vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
