About Bill's Windsor Restaurant

Bill's Windsor Restaurant is a British restaurant in Windsor that runs separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus, so the kitchen changes its offer across the day. Brunch brings a bottomless pancake deal for anyone settling in for a longer morning. Starters include calamari and halloumi fries, and katsu chicken curry sits among the mains. A cocktail list runs alongside the food, with a passionfruit martini among the choices. Afternoon tea has its own menu, separate from the lunch and dinner service.

Customer Review Summary

Attentive service is the most frequent praise, with reviewers describing servers who checked in on families and noticed a child left out when his siblings got brownies. Food opinions split. Diners praise the halloumi fries, shakshuka, mac n cheese with buffalo chicken, katsu chicken curry and bottomless brunch pancakes, plus cocktails such as the passionfruit martini and pistachio colada. One reviewer appreciated an extensive gluten free menu, and another notes that everyone in the party must buy a drink for the bottomless pancakes. A further reviewer says it gets busy with tourists and suggests pre-booking. Two reviewers were disappointed by the food. One had calamari arrive cold and come back barely a minute after being sent back, plus a dry, overcooked chicken burger. The other found the katsu curry bland and the steak plain and tough. One reviewer reports dirty toilets. Another describes a waiter refusing a second paper cup for a baby, though a colleague gave one anyway. That reviewer later wrote that the restaurant responded quickly and listened, which changed their impression.

“Super tasty pancakes and a great deal! The mojito wasn't too sweet, but that's just how I like it.”

“We had such a lovely experience thanks to Liz! She was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. I had my three children with me, and Liz kept checking in to make sure we were all okay and didn’t need anything. She even noticed when one of my children was upset because the other two had brownies and he didn’t. Liz was so caring and thoughtful, asking what he would like and making sure he felt included. It was such a small gesture, but it really showed how genuinely kind and attentive she is. Thank you, Liz, for making our visit so enjoyable and for being so wonderful with my children. Your kindness really made a difference! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Very disappointing experience. I ordered the calamari as a starter and it arrived cold. I sent it back expecting a fresh replacement, but it was returned to the table barely a minute later, which made it seem as though it had simply been put in a microwave and sent straight back out. It still wasn’t enjoyable and certainly wasn’t what I expected, this was confirmed by the squashed lemon I used when it arrived which was under the calamari upon return. The chicken burger was no better — it was badly overcooked, dry, and completely lacking in flavour. Overall, the food quality fell well below expectations and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The waiter was excellent. She seemed genuinely embarrassed by the quality of the food being served and could not have been more accommodating or apologetic. The toilets were dirty, and that is before even mentioning the condition of the actual toilet itself, which was so unhygienic that it was unpleasant to even look at. This is not what we experienced at other Bill’s restaurants, it completely ruined the birthday lunch.”

“First time coming here, really quick service, cocktails were amazing (especially the passionfruit martini and the pistachio colada), the calamari was amazing, the mac n cheese with the buffalo chicken was stunning! Very filling portions. My parter loved the halloumi fries and the katsu chicken curry! Had a lovely waiter called Sam, who was so nice to talk to. All the staff who dealt with us were very accommodating. Definitely recommend!!”
