About Damascene Restaurant
Damascene Restaurant is a Syrian restaurant at 248 High St in Slough, serving Damascene Arab food. The kitchen slow-cooks its lamb kuzi until the meat is soft and falling off the bone, which makes it the centre of the main courses. A cold mezze platter covers the starters, and a chicken mixed grill platter brings the grilled side of the menu to the table. Waiters provide table service in the dining room, and staff also work from a counter alongside them, so the restaurant runs with both formats side by side.

Customer Review Summary
Grilled meats lead the praise at this Syrian restaurant, with reviewers singling out the mixed grill platter and the chicken mixed grill as well spiced, perfectly seasoned and juicy, marinated rather than standard. The cold mezze platter comes close behind, described as spot on item by item. Lamb earns repeated mention too, the lamb kuzi so soft it falls off the bone and another lamb dish soft and tender. Others name the stuffed aubergine, a potato starter, a refreshing lemon and mint juice and the dessert. One takeaway order arrived hot, fresh and well packaged in generous portions, and the owner is called welcoming and kind. Several first time visitors say they will return, and one who has eaten across the Middle East says nothing came near it. The only complaint comes from a group whose waiter was great at first but not so much later, while the staff behind the counter stayed fantastic and helpful.

“The food was delicious and not what I was expecting. The service from our waiter was initially great, but then not so much later. The staff behind the counter were fantastic and very helpful, more so than our waiter. As a group we ordered a lot of food and the total cost was around £90. Great food, good service- well worth a visit!”

“The food here is amazing! It was our first time having Syrian food and it did jot disappoint. The lemon and mint juice was so refreshing, the lamb kuzi was so soft, fall off the bone! The chicken mixed grill was also really well spiced. Will definitely be coming back soon and I’d highly recommend it!”

“Shawarma by Fall is hands down number 1 in London. The place is extremely clean, and the decor is beautiful and very well done. I’ve tried multiple shawarma places across London, and honestly, no one comes close or has the edge to compete. In many places in London, I’ve paid double the price and still didn’t get the authentic taste I used to have back home. The taste here is incredible, everything is fresh, and the quality is consistently amazing. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and very well presented. Highly recommended!”
