About Summat to Ate Steak Restaurant & Function Rooms
On Market Street in Wigan, Summat to Ate is a steak house and function room venue that also operates as a wedding and live music space. Steak is served on a hot stone, with sirloin and fillet cuts joined by Diane sauce, and the kitchen runs beyond the grill to cover salmon, halloumi, steak and onion pie, and a tomato and chilli soup. Sunday lunch centres on roast beef, and the dessert list features crumble and custard. The function rooms sit alongside the restaurant, hosting weddings, conferences and private events. Reservations are required for the main restaurant, and a private dining room is available for groups who want a more enclosed setting. The dining room places its tables close together near brick pillars, giving the space a shared, communal feel during service.

Customer Review Summary
Steaks and Sunday roasts draw consistent praise, with reviewers singling out the sirloin on hot stone, the roast beef, and a steak and onion pie. Service is repeatedly described as great, though one diner with a disability reports being seated in a cramped spot and felt brushed off when raising it.

“Absolutely sensational. Can’t believe I’ve not been for so long and it’s on my doorstep. Had a steak and onion pie that was phenomenal. Tomato and chilli soup that was also phenomenal. The deserts were to die and got a massive bowl full of crumble and custard. Grandma loved her salmon and the wife and daughter were made up with there fillet steaks. None of could fault it at all. Best food I’ve eaten in a long time. Compliments to the chef 👏”

Good to know
“Summat To Ate is a steak restaurant and function room venue in the heart of Hindley, Wigan, in a building dating back to 1856. Our speciality is the hot rock: a volcanic stone heated to 440C so you can cook your dry aged steak exactly how you like it at your table. Alongside the hot rock we serve a full a la carte menu, a weekly Sunday lunch, weeknight meal deals and a children's menu, with gluten free and vegetarian options throughout. We are also a fully licenced wedding venue, and our two function rooms host weddings, birthdays, christenings, engagement parties and wakes for up to 80 and 150 guests. Free parking nearby. Booking recommended.”
