About The GOG House
The GOG House is a family-run steak house in Bolton at 142 Lee Ln, serving Romanian specialties alongside grilled meats and BBQ platters. The small grill-style restaurant builds its menu around steak, including a ribeye with chips and peppercorn sauce, and the chips are homemade. Customer Review Summary
Steak is the draw most reviewers return to, with a sirloin, a ribeye with peppercorn sauce and homemade chips, and a fillet each described as cooked to perfection. Close behind are the platters, including a sharing platter that didn't disappoint and a seafood platter enjoyed on a Valentines visit, along with double smoked chicken skewers with flatbread and garlic mayo. Others mention a beef stroganoff cooked from scratch, the Sunday roast, and homemade tiramisu, alongside a Romanian Shiraz and GOG Pilsner. Reviewers repeatedly point to generous portions and reasonable prices for the quality, and describe the small family run room as cosy, comfortable and clean, with friendly, welcoming staff. Several say they have been back or plan to return, and one brought the family after a first visit. One diner who mentioned a garlic allergy was told by the owner that the Sunday roast beef had a garlic marinade, and a different meal was cooked without garlic.

“What a gem of a find! Lovely little cozy restaurant, went for the first time tonight. Food was amazing! 2 of us has the sunday roast which they both enjoyed, my father had the beef stroganoff, cooked from scratch and I had the most amazing sirloin steak. It was top quality beef, cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed a lovely bottle of Romanian Shiraz. Desserts, home made tiramisu, yummy. Please try this place & support the very hard working owners & chef, they are serving up top quality food at extremely reasonable prices. We will definitely be regular customers. Thank you Alex & Maria. P.s. The lovely young lady waiting on asked if any of us had any allergies - I told her yes, I'm allergic to garlic. Maria came out from the kitchen to tell me I couldn't have the sunday roast I had ordered as the beef had a garlic marinade & she would cook me something else & ensure nothing had garlic on it. First class customer service, ensuring my dietary needs were met. They listened & looked after me. Cant fault anything at this restaurant.”

“Dropped into this quaint little place after seeing the reviews and decided to give it a try. It’s a small restaurant, very reasonably priced, and the food absolutely lived up to the praise. I had the ribeye with chips and peppercorn sauce — great marbling, cooked perfectly medium‑rare, and the sauce had a good kick without overpowering anything. The homemade chips were spot on. My wife had the double smoked chicken skewers with chips, flatbread and garlic mayo. Again, everything was well cooked, tasty, and the portion sizes were generous without being over the top. A pint of GOG Pilsner at £3.50 rounded things off nicely. All in, the bill came to under £50, which is excellent value for money. We’d happily visit again.”
