  “I have been going to this chip shop for a few years with my daughter who is autistic and very fussy what she eats, we moved to Somerset last September and we can’t find anything anywhere near as good, over the past few months we have traveled up 5 times, we both find the food absolutely perfect, especially the beautifully battered fresh white fish. All the staff are really nice and friendly, Got to be one of the best Chip shops in England.”

  “Got to say the Haddock was fantastic - my preference against cod and others anyway. And also the mushy peas - very flavourful compared to other peas I've tasted. In fact I've been looking for the elusive tasty peas ever since I said a chippy in Urmston's peas were very bland :-D The only downside were the chips. They were pretty average but on a par with most. I may be biased because I double cook my own in Beef Dripping lol! Reasonably quick turnaround and would go again. Thanks.”

  “Absolutely amazing food! Coming here time to time when passing , in my opinion one of the best chippy around the area , out of curiosity I checked how many stars has it got ( I would of thought 5) and I was absolutely baffled why only 4.6 stars , I read some of the reviews of people and couldn't believe it people would complain about sizes! I'm my opinion the food is amazing , portions are absolutely huge and very reasonable priced for what you get ! I would certainly say try it yourself rather trusting some of the reviews!”

  “Been all over the country. This is the best chippy I've been to the fish is incredible. Peppered sausage is best sausage I've had at chippy! You couldn't get better. Good portions. Does get super busy. Can be a wait. But I don't mind. You can have a chat. Menu extensive. Been going for 30 years. Brilliant”

  “First time using this chippy, glad I did. Only got chips n gravy, but they were really good. Chips were tasty and the gravy was proper thick gravy, not the watery stuff that a lot of chippies seen to sell. Good prices and good portion sizes. Very popular, queuing out of the door. Definitely recommend, and they take cash and card payments”

  “Drove past this place loads of times and finally tried it! The staff are super friendly and they rate their fish so much so they even offered to give me my money back if I didn't enjoy it 🐠🤪 bold but I know now why it was delicious 😋 crispy batter, fresh white haddock and it tasted amazing, chips were also really good cooked just how they should be. They even let me try a chip in their curry to see if I wanted some, the curry was nice but I prefer the spicier kind not the sweeter chip shop curry but that's nothing on them just my preference. Please please please add a Irish/spicier curry to you're amazing menu. Best chippy I've had in this area will defo be visiting again 💯 ❤️ wish Id taken a photo the fish was massive a beast as well”

  “The food was nice, I enjoyed it. The issue I have was the prices and the sizes. The cost of 6 people's food was 59 quid, about 10 pound per person for one meal. Looking back at what i bought I don't think that my meal was worth £10, especially with the size of it. Average sized fork as a reference. Food was nice. Worth £10 though? No.”

  “As you pull up to the Pepper Lane Chippy, the first thing you'll notice is the ample parking space surrounding it, along with tables and chairs set up out front. The chippy itself is a substantial, stand-alone building. Upon entering, the staff were cheerful, helpful, polite, and well-presented. The serving area is spacious, and during my visit around teatime, it was quite busy, becoming even more so as I completed my review from the back of their car park. The haddock and chips were tasty, though the batter was a bit on the oily side and a little thick and moist in places. The chips were exactly what you would expect from a good chippy—flavourful, light, and slightly crispy on the outside. The special menu above the range featured salt-and-pepper crispy chicken, which I found a bit disappointing for the price. It would have been a better offering with an option for a little sauce or another accompaniment. The pea fritter was enjoyable, with a crunchy batter, though it was quite small. However, it was also the cheapest pea fritter I've come across, making it a perfect option for those wanting to try one for the first time or perhaps purchase a couple. The curry sauce was fairly standard but lacked a bit in flavour, while the mushy peas were quite pleasant. Overall, Pepper Lane Chippy is a good spot to stop if you're passing through Standish and fancy some good traditional chip shop fare.   “The queue was virtually out of the door! Speaks volumes that does! There were lots of ready prepared fish, which, in my experience of other chippies, in not usually the case. They were pretty massive, too. I was served quickly, but my parking experience was a bit of a nightmare. I have been again since but was driven there by a friend. It was 13:30 and there were lots of spaces available. We ate outside as the sun was shining. The staff were lovely. And my food was hot. I didn't take a photo of my food but here's some pictures of my muddy shoes!”

  “First time at this chippy . I’m recently diagnosed Coeliac and found out via Facebook that Pepper lane chippy catered for gluten free , staff where so helpful, I got mixed up with ordering and they still made sure I had what I asked for , lovely food really enjoyed and will definitely be back ! Highly recommend, loads of parking too and so clean and tidy !”
