Customer Review Summary

The caveats are about food and flexibility. One group reports bland, lukewarm, under-seasoned dishes with small portions, and staff who answered concerns with a shrug. Another says a diner with milk and egg allergies was offered only chips and salad because the chicken is pre-marinated in yoghurt, and a request to bring in a sausage was refused. That party left and took their paid-for drinks away in takeaway cups.

“Came here as a group with friends from work, we often try different places on a monthly basis. ⭐⭐⭐ – Great vibe, food is a big let down The Vine is still such a lovely spot to chill, meet friends and grab drinks – atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, no complaints there at all. But the food now? Huge question mark, and sadly nowhere near what it used to be: • Portions are shockingly small – barely enough to satisfy, yet prices feel like they high • Flavours are bland, flat and totally lacking depth • Dishes taste rushed, under-seasoned or just plain uninteresting • Texture and quality feel inconsistent, like corners are being cut • food was lukewarm too • When approached staff regarding the food, just a smile & shruggs of shoulders. • If you still have covid & no smell or taste of food then this is ideal place for you It’s such a shame but won’t be rushing to eat again any time soon.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First visit to The Vine in West Brom, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation. Having visited the other desi pubs across the Midlands, this one holds its own with ease and in some ways raises the bar. The staff today were wonderful. A big shout-out to the lad and lady behind the bar who were attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel genuinely welcoming. It's that kind of warmth that keeps people coming back. The main event was the indoor charcoal BBQ grills. Watching the meat cook over live charcoal right there in front of you sets the tone immediately, and the quality of the meat backs it up completely. We went for three grills plus naan and chips, fresh, beautifully seasoned, and cooked with real care. The charcoal adds that depth of flavour you just can't replicate any other way. While we were there, two customers visiting from the Netherlands were absolutely loving it and honestly, it's the kind of place you'd be proud to show off to visitors from anywhere in the world. The place was clean, well looked after, and the whole vibe just works. A brilliant addition to the Midlands desi pub trail and one I'll definitely be returning to.”

“Came here for a meal with my father and fella. I had a chicken korma and garlic naan. The food was tasty however I have tasted better and the portion was more then I expected. However I did think it was slightly over priced. Had better for less. What I liked about this place is that it's clean and spacious. Parts of the pub have like booths you can into, ideally for private party or special occasions.”

“Everything marinated in yoghurt, even the chicken nuggets and fish. The only thing they could offer my Mom who has cows milk and egg allergies during my brother's birthday meal was chips and salad... Not the most fulfilling offering. We had already sat with our drinks and a mixed grill to share as a starter when my mom then learned there was no meat items she could actually eat and the chicken is all pre-prepared and they were unable to make anything fresh like 99% of actual restaurants/pubs/cafes can do. I politely asked the man behind the bar if I could run to the chip shop to bring in a piece of fish, or a sausage to go on my mom's plate alongside her chips and salad but it was a sharp no. Needless to say they missed out on us ordering multiple main dishes after our mixed grill starter, not that they seemed to care as judging by the guys attitude I believe they were probably glad of an earlier kitchen close. Frustratingly we had to up the whole party and go elsewhere whilst obtaining takeaway cups from them so we could take our already paid for drinks away. It was extra frustrating that this inconsideration of theirs meant my two young daughters had to wait until later in the evening to get their main meals. The service was unfriendly & unhelpful and a staff member on the way out told us they don't allow external food inside due to them being liable for any allergic reactions to the food being brought in..... Even though the sausage I would have been bringing in would have contained less allergens than every item on their menu! It turned out a good job we left as they also mentioned they don't allow birthday cakes in their establishment due to this very reason.... So the cake that was hiding under my coat for my brother would have been rejected too. Strange rules. Anyway, we went to the amazing Railway Inn by Sandwell station where we've frequented many times and they were accommodating as always and made the food from fresh. Had a lovely night, no thanks to The Vine. Avoid the Vine, Railway Inn for the Win.”
