About Saravanaa Bhavan Wembley

Saravanaa Bhavan Wembley is an Indian restaurant in Wembley at 220 Ealing Rd, part of an international chain built around South Indian vegetarian cooking. The menu runs wider than one region, covering South Indian, North Indian, Gujarati and Indo-Chinese dishes. Dosas come with sambar and chutneys, and the masala dosa sits alongside idli on the South Indian side. A Gujarati thali gives diners a set-plate option, and Indo-Chinese dishes such as Manchurian and Hakka noodles add a different direction. A South Indian breakfast combo is served with filter coffee and masala tea for the morning table. Cocktails and mocktails are also on the drinks list for those who want something other than tea or coffee.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the thali and the dosas, with one describing a Gujarati thali as delicious and filling and another praising a thali with soft rotis and fragrant rice. Dosas draw praise for tasting authentic, while the sambar and chutneys split opinion: some find them flavourful, others call the sambar far from authentic and the tomato chutney Punjabi in style. Close behind are the desserts, with cheesecake and chocolate brownies with ice cream called delicious, and the cocktails and mocktails praised by one, though another found a passion fruit martini tasted pre-mixed. A breakfast combo with filter coffee also earns praise. The recurring complaint is service speed: one reviewer waited almost 45 minutes for food and another found service slow. Others report the garlic fried rice was so heavy with garlic that diners removed some, the Manchurian and rasam ran very spicy, and the noodles were bland. One diner was frustrated that no onion, no garlic masala dosa was unavailable here when other branches offer it. Several note the restaurant is busy, with diners queuing for the single downstairs toilet.

“The BEST vegan food I have had and so affordable also! The inside of the restaurant is so clean and bright with high ceilings and beautiful lighting. Comfy comfy COMFY chairs. Super clean toilets and nicely designed around the washroom. Great for hosting gatherings easily can accommodate tables of more than 4. The food menu is sooo extensive and lots of flavour in everything. This was the gujrati thali I ordered for like £11.50 (or near to) and was incredibly delicious and filling! Shout out to our waitress Manshi Singh for recommending the Hakka Noodles with Veg Manchurian Balls (gravy!) 😍 great combination and great service from her and everyone in house. Always cleaning the floors and crumbs from previous guests. Dirty plates taken away swiftly. Such smooth operations! 👏🏽”

“Very busy South Indian restaurant. My understanding was that we can only get South Indian food there but to my surprise they do serve Gujarati thali, Krispie onion, potato and chilli bhajiyas and Chinese food too. It was extremely busy. I have had rava onion masala dosa, it was average, reasonably priced. We have also ordered garlic fried rice and paneer makhanee. I have never seen so much garlic in rice, it was so much that we have to remove some and leave it on the side. Overall vibe was good. We set downstairs and noticed that it was only one toilet, people were queuing up to use the toilet.”

“Authentic south Indian breakfast in Wembley. Great filter coffee and masala tea. The breakfast combo is like a Captain planet meal. Individually the items are ok, but together as a whole it tastes great. One of the best deals for under £10 Highly recommended for breakfast!”

“Food was below standard. Service could be much better. Deeply disappointed that they couldn’t or wouldn’t offer no onion/no garlic Masala Dosa. Noodles were bland and unappealing. Idli was ok but the sambhar could be better. Lot’s of room for improvement. What’s most frustrating to note that their other branches in Kenton and Harrow offer these dishes suitable for Swaminarayan/Jain Diets whilst at Wembley, they don’t ! Service with arrogance.”

“Went with my mama and really enjoyed the food. Dosa and grill paneer were my favorite, tasted very authentic South Indian. He also liked it a lot. Service was a bit slow, I’d say 3/5 for that, but overall a good experience.”
