  “Im not from around the area as im working away but iv been here a few times now and the food is amazing! The wraps are huge,the pizza's have plenty of toppings on them and are perfectly cooked! I highly recommend this place!”

  “Ordered a fish and fishcake and a portion of chips at 4.45 for a 6.30 delivery but they turned up at 5.35 (tad early) but I have to say this chippy as really lost it!! Chips were appalling more like scraps than the usual chunky chips and the fish was single decker and not chunky like previously and the fishcake was small and dry and bland, I believe the chippy as been taken over since we last ordered from here and to be brutally honest we won't be going back!! Shocking food, no value for money and bland etc!! Up your game or you will definitely lose regular customers and 1st timers won't be impressed!! 1/10 and the score reflects they got the order correct....”

  “Been here before food is excellent service great ,staff brilliant, enjoyed my food Thank for a great fish and chip shop in Washington my family favorite shop for a treat 5 stars I don't know why people grumble plenty of food and reasonable prices Big thanks”

  “Sadly going downhill rapidly, food still great. Staff are extremely busy, trying to serve on counter and take Internet /phone orders (they prioritise these), and so the customers "turning up" face a lengthy wait for basic orders, and they still get them wrong. I. E, 1x sausage n chips, 1x sausage, 1x fish, 1x curry ( she said £9), that's cheap I said... Oops I forgot the fish... I suggested they need a better system, as last 2 visits orders have been incorrect. Older lady jumped in " everyone makes mistakes" "we have 3 new staff". I agree, but everytime I go the order is wrong, write it down...? Sadly I will be taking my custom elsewhere”

  “I've been a customer of Donwell Chippy for years. It's usually OK, service could be better but in general we keep going back, however we are now finished with this chippy as the service has gone so down hill that I'm just not putting myself through it again. We ordered on the website for delivery and when the food arrived it was mostly wrong. I called up and they just wouldn't listen to what the problem was, rather just abruptly said we'll do it all again and we'll be straight out. However, they still got it wrong and it still took another 30 minutes. Missing items in the second order, but at least the stuff that did arrive was right. By now we were all fed up and didn't want to go through another call so just left it and ate what we had. What a waste of food though, half of it went in the bin. Why not just take time to listen to your customers and don't be so rude. I'll not be back.”

  “First time ordering from here and will be back again. Ordered a special chicken wrap and a pepperoni parmo, could have easily fed 4 people. Friendly delivery driver with a smile on his face was a rare but welcome sight. Delivered on time. Massive lumps of chicken, proper chips and tasty garlic sauce. A+”

  “I had an extremely disappointing experience with this fish and chip shop. After placing my order, I waited nearly three hours for the delivery to arrive. When the food finally turned up, it was completely cold, which made it very unappetizing and clearly showed it had been sitting around for a long time. What made the situation even worse was the customer service. I called the shop to explain the problem and hopefully get it resolved, but instead of listening or offering a solution, the staff member hung up on me mid-conversation. That level of service is incredibly unprofessional and frustrating, especially after such a long waitI had an extremely disappointing experience with this fish and chip shop.   “Used Donwell chippy for years.. the last few years, it has dramatically dropped its standards. I know it's a stressful, fast-paced job working within the shop, but there's no excuse for unsafe food quality or practices ... 3rd time in under 12 months, the food quality has been bad. On this occasion I had to complain and return food for a refund. ( mouldy bread ) my wife ate some of it before realising it had mould on it... if she is ill over the next few days reviews will be the least of your worries. !!”

  “The customer service from this place is the absolute worst I have ever had. Attitude is given when you question something that has gone wrong, just cos it’s a chip shop doesn’t mean you don’t act professional and give a good service. We will not be back, this has happened the last 2 times we have been”

  “Food is generally great, shame that service is absolutely god awful. Faces like off milk, attitude like nothing else. No system for pickups meaning you'll get ignored for 15 minutes, then when finally served, you'll be forgotten about for another 20 like others will come and go ordering fresh. Speaking up after patiently waiting it was made instantly. Shouldn't have to hound staff for my order when stood in front of them. Puts me off ever going back.”
