About Hatton Locks Cafe
Hatton Locks Cafe is a cafe on Canal Rd in Warwick, set beside a working lock where boats pass up and down. Dogs are welcome, and the menu includes sausages, biscuits and handmade dog food for them. Inside, a small room with a few tables is hung with canal-related items on the ceiling and walls, and some of them are for sale. The kitchen runs a breakfast and lunch menu, with hot sandwiches such as a ham and cheese panini or a bacon cob, plus scones that can be ordered as a cream tea. Drinks can be made with oat or soy milk.

Customer Review Summary
Hot sandwiches draw the most praise, with reviewers naming a ham and cheese panini, a ham and cheese toastie, and bacon and sausage cobs. One calls the mushrooms the best they have had and notes the thick bacon. Scones come close behind, and one reviewer says they are to die for and suggests taking one home if there is no room to eat it there. The waterside setting is the other regular draw, with outdoor seating for watching canal boats and ducks, and an inside cosy with canal related items on the walls and ceiling. Staff are repeatedly called friendly. The cafe is described as very dog friendly, with one dog given a biscuit and a cooked sausage. One group also had milk swapped for soy or oat milk in drinks. Criticism is smaller but specific. One reviewer found the food lacked seasoning and the service not the best, and another found a scone dry and crumbly. That diner had to ask three times for the tea to go with a cream tea, which arrived after half the scone was eaten.

“Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. My partner ordered our food and drinks, cream tea, panini and a filter coffee, his panini and coffee arrived as did my scone, half way through eating my scone i informed the young lad working there that I was waiting for my tea to go with my scone, 3 times I asked and he just looked at me like I had 2 heads! The older blonde lady ( yes there is one working there) came over with the tea and a face like thunder and said i didn't charge you for the tea because I thought you were having it with the coffee! May I suggest you actually ask your customers if they're having tea or coffee with their cream tea! Anyway the panini, coffee and tea were nice but i found the scone a little too dry and crumbly!”

“Loved it here they couldn't do enough to help me with my access. Using a wheelchair indoors proved a bit of a squeeze but is do able. Food was amazing I've had many hot sandwiches in cafes this year and this was the best so far! Really filling too bread so filling and generous portions. Outside the parking was a bit of an issue as I've a wav vehicle but the owner moved there car just so I could fit in.!!! Menu even catered for dogs with handmade food, sausages and ice cream just for dogs. Only complaint I have is that I can't fit more food in my tummy, I ordered a toastie sandwich ham and cheese we had to take doggy bag home. Very quirky too Thank you so much definitely be back asap. “The food lacked seasoning. The service is not the best. The toilets floor was wet, toilet paper was missing. One toilets is not enough for the cafe. The atmosphere was fabulous.”

“Beautiful setting beside the lock. Incredibly dog friendly mine had a biscuit and a sausage cooked him. Top food we had a bacon cob, a sausage cob, a hot chocolate and 2 scones to take away £16 approx. Ps the scones are to die for so if you can't fit one in while there take one home.”

“We stopped here on our walk along the canal. Although small there is plenty of seating inside and out. Staff team were friendly and good selection of drinks and food. Food was fresh and great quality. One of our group has an allergy and were able to substitute milk for soy or oat milk in the drinks. There is a lovely view from the canal and you can watch this and ducks whilst having a bite to eat or drink. There are parking and toilets on site.”
