Customer Review Summary

Even a critical reviewer called the staff very nice, and one diner enjoyed a lunch on a bench outside while a busker sang.

“I don’t want to be that guy but.. To be honest, I don’t just think it’s this establishment who can’t serve proper fish and chips. There seems to be a lack of knowledge in this whole area ( The North West)of how fish and chips should be cooked. I have yet to find a decent fish restaurant! For this particular restaurant review, however, I would suggest that they stick to their strengths. I have no idea what they may be but it is not Fish, or ‘Chips’ that ordinarily go along with it!! I ordered a large Haddock and I did not receive a large Haddock. I can honestly state with hand on heart that what I ate was similar to a supermarket description of what frozen fish bags label as ‘white fish’.served on a plate consisting of fresher chips than the potatoes that were used. It was definitely Not Haddock. Obviously I had to wait for it to be freshly fried because most people would order Cod but anyone who cooks fish should also have a supply of Haddock. For the price of £26.00 for fish, chips and peas and a battered sausage with chips and curry sauce and 2 cans of pop, it definitely felt way overpriced. The staff were very nice but the owner is well out of his depth. New Cod On The Block.. More like he’s not iN Sync! Very poor”

“Just finished eating my small salt and pepper chips with a free can of pop. Just what I needed. The chicken was the breaded variety which was fine. Nice and crispy. The chips were the type I was hoping for and there was chopped up peppers and onions with the seasoning. Very nice. It would have cost me another couple of quid to eat in so I sat on a bench outside listening to the busker singing Simon and Garfunkel. All in all a very pleasant lunch on a sunny day for only £4.50.”

“Absolutely love this chippy. The staff are always polite, the portions are amazing. Today I ordered small salt and pepper chips which covered the plate so needed a takeaway box which they wrapped for me. My daughter loves it here too and suggests it when in town.”

“We ate dinner here, a child's fish bits, chips barm and pie, chips and gravy. The wait staff were attentive and friendly, the meals arrived quickly and they were hot and generously sized. The food was fresh and really tasty, not greasy in the slightest, and everything was great value for money. Also loved the choice of 90s tunes! We'll definitely be back!”

“Great menu. Nice staff. Does the job. 1 less star simply because the batter was a tiny bit soft. Nice chips. Will be back to try the salt and pepper range. Good value.”
