About Yum Cha
Yum Cha is a Chinese restaurant at 3 Time Square in Warrington, in a pedestrian area of the town centre close to the multistory car park, the market and bars. The kitchen takes a neon-coloured, casual approach to Chinese classics, with dim sum, roasted meats, rice dishes and noodle soups on the menu. Siu mai and chilli wontons are among the dishes listed, and the curries include a Massaman with beef. Colourful hanging lanterns and large floor-to-ceiling windows give the dining room its bright, modern look. A cocktail list runs alongside the food, and a private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Siu mai is the dish diners name most, praised alongside chilli wontons, while others single out salt-and-pepper ribs, crispy fried items that stay juicy inside, and a beef curry with crunchy peanuts and fragrant coconut milk. Portions are described as big and plentiful, and one reviewer was pleased to find dim sum served in the evening. Service is called friendly and quick, with staff checking whether tables need anything and one regular saying meals arrive fast. The complaints centre on temperature and seasoning. Noodle soups and a wonton soup came out tepid, one reviewer found the food heavy on salt, and one diner sent crispy pork back twice because it was not crispy and the meat was soft and undercooked. One reviewer notes prices run a little higher than at other Chinese restaurants, and another called a bill for three meals, an ice cream and drinks overpriced. Families and birthday groups feature often, and one reviewer had two servers sing happy birthday to a friend without spoiling the surprise.

“It's always a great time when I visit but especially after today. 2 workers in particular, Freya and Gracie. I requested for them to sing happy birthday to a friend of mine and they went along with it all without ruining any surprise. It all went to plan and I couldn't thank them enough. Thanks again for your help and for being great sports! You definitely made my day and hopefully the birthday boys 🍰”

“We have eaten here a few times since it opened up. The menu shown lovely, vibrant looking meals But today’s meal was the worst. No taste in the wonton soup, like tepid/warm water. Nothing was hot. The crispy pork I had to send back twice, it tasted weird and it wasn’t crispy at all, but was coated in this bacon flavour powder stuff and soft undercooked meat. It made me feel a bit unwell to be honest. I couldn’t eat the meal at all. My relative felt the same about their food too, tasteless and undercooked. So disappointed as I was wanting to go out for a nice treat. Then for three meals, one ice cream and three drinks was £94! Well overpriced and put us right off going there again. I would definitely not recommend going there.”

“Writing This yum cha restaurant offers a vibrant and modern take on a traditional Cantonese dining experience. The interior immediately stands out, with colourful hanging lanterns and large floor-to-ceiling windows that create a bright, energetic atmosphere. During our visit, the festive Chinese New Year decorations and lion dance outside added an extra layer of excitement, making the meal feel like a true celebration rather than just a casual brunch. The food matched the lively setting. The dishes were well presented, as seen in the photos, with generous portions and careful attention to flavour. The fried items were especially impressive — crispy on the outside while remaining juicy and tender inside. The salt-and-pepper style ribs were fragrant and savoury, with just the right balance of seasoning and a satisfying bite. Dim sum classics arrived fresh and hot, showing good kitchen consistency and timing. Service was efficient despite the restaurant being extremely busy, and staff handled the constant flow of diners professionally. Tea refills and dish turnover were managed smoothly, which is always important in a busy yum cha setting. One thing to note is that the restaurant can become quite noisy during Chinese New Year celebrations. The combination of large crowds, family gatherings, and festive performances created a high noise level, which may not suit those looking for a quiet or relaxed conversation. Overall, this is a lively and enjoyable yum cha spot with good food, strong festive atmosphere, and a modern ambience — especially worth visiting if you enjoy the buzz and energy of traditional celebrations.”
