About Gastronomic TakeAway
On Marsh House Lane in Warrington, Gastronomic TakeAway is a Chinese takeaway that handles collection and delivery orders placed at the counter. The kitchen turns out a familiar Chinese takeaway range, with salt and pepper chicken chunks and spare ribs among the dishes customers regularly order, alongside special fried rice with prawns, chicken and beef. A 16 inch original feast box is on offer for larger orders, and curry sauce, bean curd and salt and pepper chips round out the sides. Service is walk-in, and the menu covers the rest of the standard Chinese takeaway list from chicken wings to the usual curry and sweet and sour plates. Payment is at the counter on collection.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers describe a drop in quality, with two tying it to a change of ownership. Salt and pepper chips are called plain and dry, and the special fried rice sparse, with a few peas and little meat. Others report undercooked chicken in a Chinese box and frozen bean curd. One reviewer praises the salt and pepper squid, and another the lovely person on the phone.

“I’ve had the 16” Chinese box twice now, and unfortunately both times it’s been really disappointing. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly, and the overall quality was nowhere near what it used to be. After the second order I rang to complain. I gave the first one the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was just an off day, but when the second order arrived exactly the same, I felt I had to say something. I asked to speak to Andy or Julie, only to be told they no longer own the business and that I was speaking to the new owner. That immediately explained why the food was so different from what I’d always known. It’s a real shame because I’ve been a loyal customer for many years, but sadly I won’t be returning. The food used to be excellent, but in my experience the quality has dropped significantly since the change of ownership.”

“Had a special fried rice and curry sauce from here earlier and the special fried rice consisted of chicken, a few pieces of beef and about 5 peas??? Chicken and beef was tasteless and I ended up binning it. Won't be going back as this was by far the worst special fried rice I've ever had in my life.”

“Arrived 20 minutes from ordering I can’t cook that quick! cold chewy starter definitely pre cooked kept warm non crispy cold duck! rubbery salt and pepper chicken chunks! if that’s what is being delivered you may as well shut down now definitely will not be ordering again absolutely disgraceful”

“Food has gone downhill since Andy the owner for many years sold this business in December, the bean curd is now frozen and NOT fresh and the portions are smaller too. Not that keen on the salt and pepper chips as well. ( Please come back Andy from china )”

“Absolutely shocking! Eaten here numerous times but last few times were terrible. Food has gone up from £25 2 years ago to now being £31.50 for the 16 inch original feast box even though it states on their website £29.50. Rice tasted disgusting, chicken wings were over cooked and very dry the spare ribs were a joke see pic below.... Will NEVER order from here again feel like I've been robbed.”
