Customer Review Summary

Fish and chips is the dish reviewers raise most, described as generous, tasty and incredibly fresh, and not greasy. Close behind are a steak foot pie called wonderful and filling, a double burger, a fish finger sandwich, a gluten-free Sriracha chicken burger, a raspberry gin cheesecake and a Sunday roast with delicious desserts. The river view and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere come up repeatedly, along with friendly service and good drinks. Waits are the recurring complaint. One diner waited over 40 minutes for olives and bread that appeared to have sat under a heat lamp, then left without ordering mains. Another also describes about 40 minutes for food and slow drinks, and notes a service charge is added automatically. One reviewer found it impossible to reach a person by phone because an automated assistant answers and does not understand callers. One reviewer reports that a portion of fish and chips tasted abnormally fishy and that their partner was sick afterwards. Others mention booking a table online without trouble and finding the roast chicken nearly sold out on a Sunday evening.

“I just had this amazing gluten-free Sriracha Chicken Burger, and for dessert, I went with a raspberry gin cheesecake—seriously the best meal ever! I had a small glass of white wine that was super tasty and refreshing. The service was top-notch, everyone was really friendly, and the vibe was just gorgeous.”

“Lovely setting, drinks good, however: Came in to eat for wife’s birthday. Ordered olives and bread with oil to start. Waited over 40 minutes to receive and had blatantly been sat under heat lamp ready to go for a long while, bread (what little there was and basically a crust) was toasted and olives were in a very hot metal dish. When paying good money for a ‘whole you wait’ dish and waiting a very long time we Decided not to eat mains and left as couldn’t face waiting hours for a starter / main etc. disappointing from a premises in fantastic location on a beautiful evening.”

“This was our first visit to Wareham and had a lovely meal at the Old Granery. I booked a table for lunch and had a great view of the river. The fish and chips were tasty. It is a bit expensive but worth treating yourself.”
