About Clavell's Restaurant
Clavell's Restaurant is a restaurant in Kimmeridge, Wareham, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. A family that has farmed in the Purbecks since the 1950s opened it in 2008, and the kitchen builds its menu around locally sourced food. Crab sandwiches and sticky toffee pudding are among the dishes. A separate vegan menu is available on request, with vegan pies and a curry on it. The drinks list includes local bottled beer, local lager and mocktails. Dogs are welcome, and a pooch menu gives them dishes of their own, so the whole group can eat together. Views from the restaurant take in the quiet village street and the thatched roofs along it.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the warm, welcoming staff, with several describing helpful service, including a separate vegan menu produced on request and care around allergies. Food comes close behind: crab sandwiches, vegan pies and curry, generous mains, huge chips, and a sticky toffee pudding, plus home made cake with tea and hot chocolate. Two reviewers who brought dogs mention a dog menu, and diners also praise local bottled beer, mocktails, and views of the quiet village street and thatched roofs. The recurring complaint is the service charge. One reviewer objected to it on two takeaway coffees and rated the value poorly, and another said the forced charge put them off despite loving the meal. One diner also found the coffee the only downside. Several visitors stopped in after a long walk or a trip to the bay, and one pair who stumbled on it while looking for a village left planning to return.

“Came here after visiting Kimmerridge Bay, can wholeheartedly recommend in every way. Friendly welcome and attentive. We ate from the vegan menu - pies and curry. The portions are generous and both were absolutely delicious. All washed down with tasty mocktails and local larger. Even our dog was treated with a little pooch menu. We will visit again and pass on this little gem of a place with positivity.”

“Absolute gem of a pub! We are currently visiting and could not have asked for a better experience. The setting is absolutely beautiful and kept to an impeccably high standard of cleanliness—you genuinely couldn't ask for more. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond, being exceptionally helpful and accommodating with allergies. The food was of an amazing standard, beautifully cooked, and very well presented. To top it all off, they serve an incredible selection of local bottled beer. A wonderful atmosphere in a gorgeous location. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Clavells—we will definitely be back!”

“We visited Clavells Restaurant for a family meal on Father’s Day, and it was absolutely brilliant. The venue is beautiful, with lovely views overlooking the street, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. What really impressed us was how dog-friendly the restaurant is. We only discovered later that they even offer a dog menu—what a wonderful touch! This place is truly a little paradise for our four-legged friends. The staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness from the moment we arrived. Their friendly smiles and positive attitude really lifted our spirits and made the experience even more special. 💯 Highly recommended! 💛 Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or your furry companion, Clavells is definitely worth a visit. 🐾✨”
