About Coffee Stop

Breakfast and brunch anchor the day at Coffee Stop, an independent cafe on Suite 8 in Wakefield, where orders are placed at the counter and no booking is taken. The breakfast burrito is the signature order, alongside sandwiches such as the ham salad and a run of cakes and bakes. Coffee is the mainstay, flat whites included, with soft drinks for those skipping caffeine. Dogs come inside and are given biscuits, and a few tables outside give the option of eating in the open air. A step-free entrance keeps the room reachable for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make room for families with young children. The cafe runs daytime only and is closed on Saturdays, with the kitchen shutting in the early afternoon and little flexibility on timings or menu substitutions, so arriving earlier in the day is the safer bet.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee is the draw reviewers come back to most, one regular reckoning it beats anything from the chain shops in Wakefield, with flat whites singled out alongside freshly prepared food. Close behind sit the brunch plates, the breakfast burrito named more than once, plus a ham salad sandwich on brown bread and a chocolate brownie from the cake selection. Several describe a warm, homely interior and friendly service with a smile. The recurring complaint is inflexibility: one long-time visitor describes being refused plain toast or muffins because only fruit toast is offered, then the owner striding over with a returned coffee and turning away mid-reply after another staff member had offered to remake it. Another regular recounts arriving just after the kitchen closed and being turned down for a coffee with the machine still on. One visitor found the person at the counter unfriendly in a cafe otherwise called delightful. Dog owners note the team hand out biscuits, and the occasional sausage.

“Shame about the terrible service at the counter. The gal at the counter was unfriendly, and terribly off putting. Unfortunate as this cafe is usually delightful”

  • Graham Martin
“Fantastic independent coffee shop doing breakfast, brunch and bakes on weekdays. Staff are really friendly, interior warm and homely. Excellent selection of cakes and food on offer. Accidentally discovered Coffee Stop when getting my brakes changed at a nearby garage. Spent a happy hour or so with two Flat Whites, a breakfast burrito and a chocolate brownie. Freshly made, beautiful food, served with a smile. Look forward to returning again soon.”
