About Jacks Hill Cafe And Truck Stop

Customer Review Summary

The full breakfast is what most reviewers talk about, and opinion splits sharply. Supporters describe a hot full English and a veggie breakfast, ordered at the counter and brought to the table without a long wait. Some call the cafe clean and much improved since reopening. Friendly, smiling staff come up repeatedly, along with a nice coffee and an egg sandwich. The complaints are just as specific and recur. Several describe undercooked or deep fried sausages of low quality, fatty bacon, a single flat tomato and cold food on small plates. One family reports missing toast, hash browns, eggs and black pudding on a first visit. On a return visit, eggs requested sunny side up came overcooked and a no tomatoes request was ignored, leaving the hash browns soggy. Others point to a lack of management in the kitchen, and a longtime customer says they will not return. Even so, one table of nine received their breakfasts after a short wait, and the staff joined in singing happy birthday.

“I have to say the food is beyond belief Dreadful, before you reopened i had been going to jacks hill cafe for 20 years, and never in that time had I been served food up like they are today under the present management or should I say total and utter lack of management, on a constant basis food is cold uncooked and served up in that many different plates all cold, all small, and that is not because the food is to much for the plate, far from it, the portions are incredible small, the food came out the other day looking like the remains of a kitchen disaster, this is constantly pointed out in reviews that the food is a massive problem and its very plain to see the staff lack training they are very polite but when they are not been managed the result is this, i came in Saturday and they served up what can only be described as a crash on a plate it was a cooking disaster, I am not expecting it to be to the Standard of the Ritz, or the Calton, or the Doorchester, but it needs to be of a eatable standard, I certainly will not be comeing again, I speak to people and they say that they are going to the super sausage up the road where the food is excellent and service is excellent and consistently that way, as well but because you have not addressed the food issue it is making people just walk away, and this is not a one visit I have been comeing for months since you reopened and the food has been consistently bad real bad, if you wanted to know how bad look at a dogs dinner and it will give you a idea, you need a new head chef and real quick, what is comeing out of your kitchen is doing what was a good business a massive amount of damage, but like I say i will not be coming again full stop the bikers make the cafe and always will, but for me its no good if you cannot serve eatable food.”

“Had seen on line and someone had mentioned that this place was open again, so whilst visiting previous work colleagues at towcester (silverstone) I popped in for a coffee and quick bite. Greeted by friendly staff , chatty and atmospheric providing for a pleasant experience. Food was nice and reasonably priced. Spent a few Fridays here on bike nights between 2016 and 2019. Would recommend.. cheers guys n gals 😃 might see you again 👍 The friendly guy on the electric push bike who had the egg sandwich , hope you dried out after that down pour lol..”

“I planned my journey on my bike today on the way to London the pretty way from Leicestershire Very disappointed with my breakfast The tomatoes!!! Or rather tomatoe looked like someone had stood in it ! Yes it was just one flat tomato the Bacon was fatty and just presented all wrapped up not evenly cooked Didn’t even try the sausage it wasn’t cooked on one side rushed I think Coffee was nice and of course you’re now being guilted into a tip when you pay minimum being %15 the 20 and 30 choices. So my basic small breakfast and coffee was just under £15 not cheap I remember it better a d I’ve used this place many times in the past. While on bike trips I’m sure mines just a blip. But it smacked of stuff dumped on a plate to me”

“It has changed a lot since its famous greasy spoon days although you can tell where it came from. We went for a car and bike show which was well attended and had some marshalling on site. We had lunch while we were there, a full breakfast and a veggie breakfast. Honestly, what are going to say about that, plenty of it served hot easy to order at the counter then brought to the table without waiting long. It was a great outing and I would go again”
