About The Giggle

On London Rd, The Giggle serves breakfast and cafe fare with a movie theme running through the menu, including the Full English listed as the "Full Monty," a large plate served with a hot drink included. The room carries American diner-style signs on the walls. Seating extends outdoors for those who want to eat outside, and high chairs are available for families with young children. The Giggle opens daily for daytime hours only, and no booking is needed, guests walk in and take a table. Weekends draw larger crowds, so timing a visit earlier in the day can help. Alongside dine-in, the cafe also offers delivery for those who'd rather eat off site.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come for big, good value breakfast plates, from a giant veggie breakfast to the full English, described as hot, fresh and quick to arrive. Close behind are the large bacon baps and rolls, along with the Giggle special and the American and Scottish breakfasts, which one party called fantastic. Several praise the friendly staff, the good coffee, and the American diner style decor with a menu named after movies, and one mentions outdoor seating for warmer months. Not everyone is won over. One reviewer found the pancakes cold and a little soggy, the hashbrowns oily, and the bread worse for soaking up the oil, with the included hot drink tasting machine made. Another called the breakfast edible but unremarkable and described the sauce bottles as dirty and clogged. One reviewer suggests visitors try it for a proper English breakfast, and a delivery order arrived hot and well packaged after a night out.

“Got to be one of the best caffs in town, in a part of Britain still known for it's traditional old school transport cafes. While more pretentious places charge £15 and up for a full English, you can still get a home made plate with love for the sum of £5.95, and no it is not in the least cheap and nasty, quite the opposite. Always full for a reason. Nice work.”

“★★★☆☆ The breakfast was okay, but it just didn't quite hit the spot. Everything was edible, but nothing really stood out or made me want to come back. One thing that could definitely be improved is the sauce bottles—they were quite dirty and clogged up, making it difficult to get any sauce out. It's a small detail, but it doesn't leave the best impression. Overall, it wasn't a bad breakfast, but if you're in the area I'd recommend driving the extra 5–10 minutes to Joe's Kitchen Van. In my opinion, the breakfast there is much better and well worth the short journey.”

“Less than seven quid for a giant veggie breakfast. Food was hot and fresh and came out quickly. Lovely English people running the cafe. Best value breakfast I’ve had in years. Highly recommended.”
