Customer Review Summary

Diners mostly praise the curries, with the Alphonso described as sweet, creamy and full of flavour and the Murgh Dawa as rich and comforting with tender chicken. Close behind are the Scallop Bunjaa, the prawn chilli egg fried rice, and a chicken biryani with tikka naan. One reviewer also enjoyed a vegetable biryani, and several mention generous portions and generous sauces for the poppadoms. Service is called friendly and courteous, and food arrives swiftly even when the room is busy, though one reviewer found the bill slow to arrive. The one real complaint comes from a party of nine who were charged for dip trays left on the table without being told. That reviewer also found soft drinks, a pint of coke in particular, expensive. They called the food decent but could not rate the service higher because of the surprise charge. Elsewhere, a couple asked for a lamb dish to be made spicy, Bangladeshi-style, and the chef prepared it exactly that way.

“Great food, cooked well. Selection of Signature Mains was worth exploring - but too many options for one visit! Swift to deliver the food but slow to take the money at the end! Friendly staff and a most enjoyable meal.”

“The food is exquisite, friendly staff and an exceptional atmosphere.”

“*Update* had tried to contact the resturant in regard to the concern, but their philosophy on the matter was that because that the item is listed on the menu and has a price attached, it is chargable. I had replied to their email stating that unless stated at the start of the meal that they were chargable, it would be seen by the average people the dip trays were included. On top of that, the pratice for charging customers is on the business and this including items places on the table, as these items were not asked for. Lost a star. Very disappointing. To anyone who comes here, be wary of this. -------------------- We came here as a party of 9 people tonight. The reason for the overall low rating is not related to the food as such, but more so to do with business practice and other prices. The food itself was nice enough. Me and my partner had ordered the chicken byrani and tikka nan bread. The curry came with a vegetable curry sauce which was nice, but there could have been a little more provided as it didn't cover the dish well enough, but all in all nice food. The naan bread was had bits of throughout and it was only a few pence extra. The service was friendly and welcoming, but for something I will mention later I cannot rate it any higher. Though they did provide us with a complementary mini heated towel and their own brand chocolate mint, it does not make the situation with the costs any better. Now here's where the things we did not agree with comes in. I asked how much a glass of coke was and was told the standard glass, smaller glass was £3.50 or the pint glass for £5.50 (I'm sure at the time I was told the pint glass of coke was £5 by a server). £5.50 for a pint of coke, which is by far the most expensive I've seen to date by an Indian resturant and I do enjoy indian food cuisine. Fair to say I would not pay for another glass. Even worse, at the end of the meal we were presented with a hidden cost. At the time I was distracted and forgot that hidden and suprise costs can't be added to the bill and if so can be challenged. Items' cost for those on the table, to be consumed must be made transparent beforehand. We were never informed that the dip trays for the sauces were to be paid for and I had thought they were complimentary due to the size of the party and no one making clear to us they were to be added to the bill. Do I recommend this place? For the food, yes as it's decent. However, I would not recommend ordering soft drinks from here if you are trying to keep costs low. Also can't recommend service, due to the suprise cost we had encountered. Such a shame.”

“Been tonight while stopping locally. Had meals in Bradford and Birmingham. However, this restaurant is the best I've ever had. Amazing food, atmosphere and service.”

“This was our second visit with my husband, and once again, we had a wonderful experience. We requested our lamb dish to be made spicy, Bangladeshi-style, and the chef prepared it exactly the way we wanted. The food and service were excellent, as always. A big thank you to the chef! We’ll definitely be back soon and will be recommending this place to our friends.”
