About The World's End Taunton
The World's End Taunton is a restaurant and pub at Taunton TA4 1ET, with a secluded summer terrace where diners can take tables around an open fire pit. Inside, antique-style tables furnish a quirky dining room, and the toilets are tucked behind a bookcase. The carvery serves pork, gammon, beef and turkey with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy and a spread of vegetables, and Sunday lunch is served. A private dining room is available for groups, and the pub holds a quiz night. A large flat car park sits on site and is used for motorhome stopovers.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is what most reviewers come for, with praise for the pork, gammon and turkey, plenty of vegetables, thick gravy and a good selection of meats. Sunday lunch earns a mention for its red cabbage. The carvery draws the sharpest complaint too: one diner found the vegetables overcooked and soggy, the gravy watery and the beef tough, and another called the beef a little chewy. A reviewer who ordered the prawn and chorizo linguine felt it was too small a portion for the cost, with only three prawns. Staff are praised repeatedly as friendly, welcoming and accommodating, whether for a large anniversary party, a wedding reception that catered for vegan and gluten free guests, or a family with two babies. Reviewers also like the quirky antique decor, the quiet setting, the play area and the good children's menu. One group sitting in the beer garden was bothered by wasps and was moved to a table inside, and another noted cold air from open garden doors.

“My sister had her wedding reception here. It was a really pretty venue and we were able to decorate in the morning ready for the event. The catering was good and they accommodated our vegan and gluten free guests. Claire was excellent at sorting everything and the communication in advance was great.”

“Carvery ... Delicious pork and gammon but beef a little chewy, stuffing, yorkie, roast pots, 8 veg, thick gravy and condiments. Good value for money. Staff always pleasant. Only moan is that the garden doors were open so it was cold but apart from that ... Yummy.”

“I visited this place with my husband and our two friends where we were welcomed by a lady called Claire who was very friendly. We sat outside in the beer garden in the sunshine which was very lovely, the only downside was the trying to escape the wasps. So Claire found us a table inside. We ordered food which was really nice. The other lady working there Jess was also really friendly. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We will be back again soon, thanks for a lovely afternoon.”

“We visited The World's End today as part of a large family group to celebrate my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Nothing was too much trouble for Clare and her team. They were so welcoming, friendly and attentive, making sure everything ran smoothly for our large party. The food was delicious, and the setting was lovely. A huge thank you to Clare and the whole team for helping us celebrate such an important family milestone. We would definitely recommend The World's End and look forward to visiting again!”

“This is our second visit to the World's End. We have used the pub both times as a stopover with our motorhome, either after leaving home in Cornwall or on a return journey. Large flat carpark, very quiet at night. Yesterday we arrived after a fraught day and the staff were so welcoming, accommodating and kind to us. We were lucky to just get in for a carvery. Great selection of meat and proper home cooked veggies! The previous visit was on a quiz night - so dinner and a quiz - perfect! This pub is a diamond, run by a great team. We will return and thoroughly recommend. Thanks all 🎉🎉 Sally and Ian”
