  “Fantastic. Much happier than the last time I used them, when I had to write a negative review. This time was 100% different. Cannot fault it at all. The Yorkshire fish cakes are out of this world. They cook in beef dripping and use Haddock. I don't know what happened within the last 3 or 4 years but this time it was fantastic.”

  “Absolutely amazing fish and chips and the crack was good as someone ordered a bread cake so I corrected them and said it’s a cob it got everyone in the queue debating! Highly recommended”

  “After doing a delivery in york pulled into here for a break. Excellent food and got scraps aswell which you dont get in cambridge. Cant recomend this chippy enough best ive had in ages”

  “Was told when I walked in 6-7 minutes for my food. Was waiting for 20/30mins while everyone else that came in after me got their food and probably got home and ate it before I left. Check my bag when I get in the van and no gravy and my sea food basket was swimming in “beef dripping”. Chips are good tho! Calamari is so so so rubbery (over cooked). Go back in to get my gravy and the guy with glasses who was dripping with sweat was soooo rude to me (a customer) who literally just wanted to get his food after a hard day at work. Then he said I ordered something late, but 3 minutes before the girl on the counter told me someone forgot about putting them in. When I know (because I said it) I ordered them like 30 seconds after I made my original order. Then my pea’s got desperately scraped out the bottom of the barrel as they was running out. Maybe people had a different experience to me but I found the place very rushed off their feet and no care for the customers. Just my honest opinion :) had to edit this quick because in the prawns is still the digestive line (poop line) and in my eyes is a step over the line.”

  “Another outstanding visit to Kirkgate fisheries in Tadcaster. Opted for 2 fish, 1 chips, 1 mushy peas & 1 large curry sauce. Fish cooked to order, crispy, not at all greasy. Chips crispy and not soggy, Curry sauce spicy which accompanied the food perfectly. Can't wait to visit again. 5 stars to all the team at Kirkgate fisheries. First visit after being recommended by a friend. Great little fish & chip shop. All cooked fresh to order. Portions are a good size, couldn't finish my fish & chips, and that doesn't happen very often. Best in Tadcaster for sure. Definitely returning. Thumbs up to all the staff. 2nd visit. Good fryday fish & chips. Great service, good sized portions, piping hot, freshly fried. Can't fault any aspect of Kirkgate Fisheries. Best chippy in area by far. Thanks to all the team at KF.”

  “Had a couple of meals from Kirkgate Chippy now… (not local, but do treat myself to a chippy when tramping in Tad)… every item I’ve had has been delicious… went all out this time for the fish and chips. There was not a regular sized fish at the time available but were only too happy to serve me a large, (charged at the same price) which I really appreciated, they also had a deal for a free pot of mushy peas. I’ve been to some good chippys over the years but the fish from Kirkgate is by far the best I’ve had! The batter and fish itself was perfect, normally I love a bit of tartar sauce on the fish but didn’t have any nor was there a need! The service from the staff is always a nice experience, with a warm welcome and a friendly vibe. I look to future visits when in the town. 👍🏼”

  “Ordered the haddock and peas and it was lovely. They are really generous portions so I skipped the chips this time. (Just get one portion of chips if there are two of you!) The batter is light and reminded me of proper 'seaside chippy!' Excellent.”

  “Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Massive portions. Thick chunky haddock, crispy batter, crispy chips that were roasting hot. Can’t recommend enough.”
