Reviewers most often mention crispy battered fish, generous chips portion, scampi and chip shop gravy.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the chips, describing a generous portion with no black or overcooked pieces, and a few call them fresh and great. Close behind are the fish, with cod and fresh haddock in crisp batter, plus the scampi, which one diner calls large and juicy in its breadcrumbs. Others single out the garlic mushrooms, the chip shop gravy, curry sauce, a battered sausage and an apple pie. Portions and value come up repeatedly, and one reviewer notes prices in line with nearby chippies. The main complaint centers on the chips too. Three reviewers give low ratings, and two say the chips were reheated or recooked and tasted stale, one after three recent visits where quality had slipped. One of them says the other items were fine. Another reviewer calls the shop a bit hit and miss, though always above ok. Several mention a friendly owner who kept the shop open past closing to cook one family's order.
