About The Ridge (Greenbridge)
The Ridge (Greenbridge) is a restaurant in Swindon, found at Unit 19 right next to the cinema. The Roast Sharer is a portion large enough for 3 people, so a table of three can share a single plate. A BBQ menu runs alongside it, built around brisket and a full rack of ribs. Burgers and fries fill out the rest of the menu, and a dedicated gluten free menu gives guests who avoid gluten their own set of dishes to choose from.

Customer Review Summary
Table service draws the most praise, with reviewers repeatedly describing hosts and servers who made them feel welcome, including a birthday dinner where staff brought out a cake and sang. Food impressions are split. Fans point to burgers with a good portion of fries, a dedicated gluten free menu, the bacon mac and cheese, and a Roast Sharer with a huge portion, enough for three, and parents say the kids loved their meals. The complaints centre on the kitchen. One diner received shredded brisket with tough gristle and unrendered fat, and found the burnt ends, chilli beef and watery beans all tasted alike. Another called the ribs the most bland they had tasted, and a third found the chicken burger tasteless, with other tables sending food back. A few mention understaffing, a long wait for a drink, and loud music. The brisket diners sent most of their meal back, and the manager charged them only for a portion of chips.

“We visited The Ridge in Greenbridge on Saturday evening after having previously eaten at the West Swindon location, where we had a really good experience. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different and, as people who genuinely love BBQ and cook it regularly ourselves, we were extremely disappointed. I ordered the brisket, which was described on the menu as slow-cooked and sliced. What arrived was shredded beef rather than sliced brisket, with a significant amount of tough gristle and unrendered fat. The texture and flavour didn’t resemble properly cooked brisket and, to be honest, tasted more like a cheap cut of beef. The rest of the food wasn’t much better. The chilli beef, burnt ends and beans all seemed to have the same very strong tomato-based flavour, with the beans being extremely watery. There was very little of the smoky, rich BBQ flavour you would expect from a restaurant specialising in this style of food. Overall, everything tasted bland and lacked the depth and care we’d expect. We don’t normally complain in restaurants, but when you’re paying close to £20 for individual BBQ dishes, you reasonably expect the food to match the description on the menu and the price. In this case, we ended up sending almost £60 worth of food back because it simply wasn’t enjoyable. We did speak to the manager and explained our concerns, particularly regarding the brisket. To his credit, he was very understanding and agreed that it wasn’t normally served in that way. He also offered us a complimentary round of drinks or desserts, which we appreciated, although we politely declined as we’d already sent so much food back. The manager handled the complaint professionally, and we were only charged for one portion of chips, which was a fair resolution. What made the experience particularly disappointing is that we’d actually cooked a BBQ at home the night before for less than £30, including hot honey halloumi kebabs, smash burgers, marinated chicken, sweet and smoky beef kebabs, Mexican cheese, bbq beef burnt ends and more — all cooked on a Weber. The food was genuinely excellent. We’re not expecting restaurant food to be perfect, but when a restaurant is charging premium prices for BBQ, the meat and cooking need to be the priority. Proper cuts, proper cooking and proper flavour are what people are paying for. We had a fantastic experience at The Ridge in West Swindon previously, so perhaps this was simply a very bad night for the Greenbridge kitchen. However, based on this visit, we unfortunately wouldn’t return to this location. Credit where it’s due: the manager dealt with our complaint respectfully and professionally. The food itself, however, was nowhere near the standard we expected.”

“Was hungry after the film and this place was busy and thought we would give it a try. Service was good but the food subpar. Had the full rack of ribs which came out in like 15mins after ordering. They looked anemic and the sauce wasn’t doing anything to help. They were tender but the most bland ribs I have ever tasted, ones from supermarket genuinely taste better. I wish I made the journey to hickory’s because the price was the same. 1st time and last time I’m here I’m afraid.”
