About Little trams cafe

Cooked breakfasts anchor the menu at Little trams cafe, a café on Herbert Street in Swansea, where the "Tram Terminus" comes in a Welsh version with cockles and laverbread for anyone wanting the local take on a fry-up. English-style plates sit alongside it, together with a "traditional" and a larger breakfast, and a vegetarian option runs beside the several meat-based choices. Breakfasts are served all day rather than to a morning cut-off, so a late start still gets the full plate, with tea alongside. The menu stays short and straightforward. Tables are set out inside with plenty of seating, and outdoor seats let customers eat in the open air. A step-free entrance keeps the café reachable for visitors with mobility needs. No booking is taken, so customers simply walk in and order, and the room fills at busier times. The café opens daily during daytime hours.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is what reviewers return for, led by the Welsh breakfast, which one diner had with cockles and laverbread and another praises as a traditional fry-up available all day. The Tram Terminus breakfast gets an excellent mention, and a vegetarian breakfast is called wonderful. Reviewers single out the thick, perfectly cooked bacon and plump, juicy tomatoes, and describe a large portion that was hard to finish. Close behind are the friendly, kind staff, quick service, clean tables, and prices several call reasonable. Several say they visit every week or plan to become regulars, and one couple says the cafe has become their "place" after three years. The one complaint is from a reviewer whose breakfast arrived very cold on an otherwise excellent visit, and another notes it gets busy. One reviewer says they plan to ask the proprietor where the tomatoes come from.

  • Rowan Bendle
“Started coming to the little trams about three years ago with my partner, every time we come here it's so nice and calming, the food is amazingly cooked and the staff are friendly, talkative and very kind! Went to University in Cardiff and struggled for dear life to find a Café that meets this kind of standard of both cleanliness, taste quality, service and atmosphere. This has become our "place", every time we speak of our meeting each other the little trams is always a factor we bring up. Thank you to the staff who work hard every day in this Café to provide the local customers with amazing food and service.”
