Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the gravy and curry sauce, with one calling the gravy the best in Sunderland and another finding the curry sauce perfect and full of flavour. The special chow mein and special fried rice earn similar praise, and a regular describes the food as always outstanding, arriving hot in large portions. Delivery is the most common complaint. Reviewers report waits of an hour or two, and one received a freezing meal that tasted like cardboard, though others say they were warned about the delay when ordering. The house special curry is faulted for tiny pieces of meat and few onions, and one found the chow mein dry with overcooked noodles. One reviewer found a bone in the gravy on two separate orders, and another reports cashew nuts in a meal ordered without them for an allergic family member, with the manager denying the mistake. The woman who answers the phone is called abrupt, and one finds it pricey with no free prawn crackers. Others praise polite staff, and one couple were told they had overpaid with an extra note, which was taken off their next order.

“Very nice Chinese food. Just abit pricey and don’t get free prawn crackers when spending nearly £30, where other decent places sort out for spending £18+”

“So pleased we came across "Good Taste Chinese Takeaway" I can't fault the food and polite service...although the delivery time was a little longer than I'd expected I was already forewarned whilst placing my order. My husband and I both agree we have discovered our new favourite Chinese Takeaway 🤗 Just to add, we ordered again and were informed that while paying for our previous order my husband had paid with new notes and instead of two ten pounds he had accidentally given three and they would take the ten pounds off the price...we had no idea we overpaid. Great service and honest staff.Best special chow mein and special fried rice in Sunderland ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Placed an order on Saturday 5th April ( collection ) and specified to the counter assistant no cashew nuts in the lucky dragon as my wife’s allergic to them , got home and the meal was full of cashew nuts After speaking to the counter assistant she apologised and checked with the back staff who admitted they put the nuts in by mistake and will replace the meal the next day , I asked if I need to bring the meal back with me and she didn’t reply but said come in tomorrow and we’ll replace it for you so I put it in the bin Spoke to the manager the next day who took no responsibility and denied it was there mistake and refused to replace the order and started abusing and arguing with me on the phone They could have killed my wife , disgusted and appalled by the lack of customer care Absolutely shocking service Be careful of these people who only want your money and don’t care about your health Unfortunately I had to give one star but it should have been zero”

“Sorry I said I wouldn't share this review but nothing changes so here it is. Ordered a delivery meal atv7.20pm, house special chow mein, house curry, chips and rice. Total delivered £24.10, gave £25. It came an hour or more later. When we opened it it was cold. The curry was just a hot sauce with undercooked chunky onions and mainly thin dried out strips of beef, plus maybe 2 tiny squares of pork. Not good. The chow mein was dry, no sauce, noodles so overcooked they were too tough to cut up. There was one small chunk of chicken, a few small pieces of pork and 2 prawns. Don't forget what looked kike streaky overcooked spring onions. The chips were dry and smaller ones were very hard. I never opened the rice as most of the meal went into the bin. I've not had a takeaway for over 6 months as it is a luxury, being a retired pensioner. I certainly won't go back here. I rang to tell them this and the reaction was abysmal. An apology but nothing to say please come back, we'll make sure your next meal will be better, or even give me a discount. I'm done. No more takeout from here.”
