  “Fantastic gem of a place. Staff attentive and helpful. Food was homemade, I had the best liver onions mash and peas that I've ever had. Homemade chips and great selection of homemade cakes. The Sunday roast looked delicious. All very reasonably priced. I definitely would recommend it and I'm coming back next week to try the roast and pudding”

  “It's probably my fifth visit to this local cafe and what a gem it is in Sunderland located at The Green in Southwick! It is definitely my favourite cafe by far for 10 reasons. 1) Exceptional customer service provided by Sofia and his staff. They will take care of you and talk to anyone if you are willing to open up, even if you are an introvert. 2) Affordable delicious food that feels like home, a British home. Everything is made with love and care, you can tell. It is worth the wait. I even time the wait to record how long it takes and it is a reasonable wait whether quiet or busy. I would say average of 10-20 minutes. Even if longer it is still worth the wait as you would know that for example the chips are homemade and not frozen store bought chips! 3) Great tasting coffee and great tea selection. I'm not a coffee snob by any means or a tea afficionado but I can taste quality coffee and tea when I try it. Also good variety of cold drinks and other hot drinks on offer. 4) Desserts visually look appealing, like I'm back in Bulgaria. I have yet to try them but no doubt it would be chef's kiss. 5) They raise money for their chosen charity (not sure if they change the charity now and then) through offering items that are too good to go. Items such as bread, fruit, vegetables, snacks and canned food offered for those who want to save the planet, conscious of money or want to help a charity (all three of which I love to harness) 6) They have a library where you can borrow books. If you are a bookworm like me, you'll love this. I think there are all kind of genres and noticed they have children's books for them to read and learn. 7) In the past they have held events for the local community for everyone to join in on the fun. Mostly family friendly and for kids to learn, grow and have fun. For that I respect immensely because it shows community spirit and unity in times of political unrest and racism that may lurk in the shadows. 8) They sell local handmade, homemade gifts such as honey from Durham which I'm most intrigued by. Massive appreciation for unique gifts to give to your loved ones. 9) High standards of cleanliness. Anytime I'm around, it is spot on and diligently tended to. You get the feeling that you are eating like a King or Queen. 10) Outdoor seating. Not that I've sat outside but I do appreciate that there is that option in case you just want coffee outside, smell the flowers that they have and immerse yourself in the sun.   “Went here today with my friend, after always passing it on my way to sunderland. Went in as soon as we did the owner said hello to use. We found a seat and sat down. The owner came over to us. And asked us what we would like, we got 2 full English breakfasts, I got an earl grey and my friend got a cappuccino. When they arrived the breakfasts was well presented. All in all the owner and the other members of staff were lovely. We will definitely be back. For what we got cost just under £20.”

  “This is a truly wonderful cafè. I tucked into a Full English Breakfast (£5.90) washed down by a pot of tea which provided me with two and a half cups (£1.90). As well as breakfast they do paninis/toasties/sandwiches/wraps, salads, burgers and lunches. The staff bend over backwards to help and the food is gorgeous.”

  “This is my absolute favorite place I found in Sunderland (I am visiting from America) It’s cozy, delicious food, great lattes, always clean and amazing service. The people who work there are so sweet. They have books for you to read as well. I can’t stop going, definitely going to miss it when I leave here!”
