Quick info
About Offerton Fish Bar
Offerton Fish Bar is a fish and chips takeaway at 130 Hall St in Stockport, open daily. Fish and chips is the core order, with the chips served in paper and the fish fried fresh on request. Gravy is offered as an extra, so a portion of chips can come with it. A spam fritter sits on the menu alongside the chips and gravy, and the board also lists a cheese and onion pie and sausage for anyone who wants something other than fish. Mushy peas and curry sauce are available to finish off the order.

Customer Review Summary
Fish divides reviewers. Some call it excellent and fried fresh on request, while others describe soggy fish, batter that is less crisp than before, a fish that smelt and tasted not fresh, and one large fish with black, smoky bits that was binned. Gravy is the next most praised item, called thick by one diner, though another found it over salted. A large sausage and the scallops draw praise, and one reviewer liked a cheese and onion pie. Chips are the sorest point. Two say they tasted of old oil, and one suspected they were frozen. Some call the portions small for the cost, describing a curry box not half filled and a small fish. Two reviewers notice different staff or possible new owners. Two also report finding a hair, one in the fish and another sunk into a chip that could not be scraped off.

“I always enjoy this chippy and have had really good food, unfortunately this time for me and my daughter, it was over salted, not just the meal but the gravy in particular”

“Fish fried fresh on request. Chips were also hot and fresh. Always pop into this Chippy whenever I'm in Offerton.”

“Only live over the road and used to be the best chippy around. Not sure what's happened but its no where as good anymore. Gutted. The batter isnt as crispy on the fish, the fish smelt and tasted like it wasn't fresh and the chips tasted like the oil was old. I really hope you can fix this as its been like that the last few times, I used to use the chippy regularly and would like to again.”

“The Best Chippy in Stockport by far. The service is amazing. The Sausage is unbelievably large ( we all like a large sausage, don't we! ) the scallops are perfect in every way, you won't find better anywhere and the Gravy is thick and the best I have ever tasted. 100 percent guaranteed. GET YOURSELF TO OFFERTON FISH BAR. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.”

“All was nice apart from one large fish which didnt look and taste right, some bits of fish were black coloured and tasted smokey for some reason. Binned it. The other 4 fish, portions of chips & extras were fine though. Just one fish that was inedible, hopefully just a blip at this fish and chippy. This was an order and collection last weekend. Quick speedy service given how busy it was.”
