About The Shropshire Inn - AA Rosette
On Newport Road in Stafford, The Shropshire Inn pairs a pub with a dining room serving steaks and Modern British dishes, set in a country surrounding with a large garden. The beef is reared and butchered locally, within twenty miles of Haughton, and the kitchen also draws on locally sourced vegetables, quail eggs, raspberries and asparagus in season, alongside fish supplied from Birmingham fish market. Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most enthusiasm, with one diner calling the beef and turkey plate, priced at £12.95 with all the trimmings and extra gravy, one of the best they've had and generous enough that requested extra veg wasn't even needed. Close behind, the steaks earn praise, with one reviewer describing them as cooked to perfection, and a starter of roast fig, cambozola, prosciutto, grapes, pear and balsamic nuts gets singled out as a standout. Several also mention the wine and beer selection favorably. Reviewers repeatedly note the country garden setting and table service, with a few naming the owner and manager by role as welcoming and knowledgeable despite one having only recently started. One reviewer admits feeling underdressed on arrival but says staff quickly made them feel welcome regardless. Multiple visitors describe clearing their plates and finding room for dessert, with several saying they plan to return.

“Superb Sunday roast, children's meals were brilliant, delicious food, great service in a lovely country setting. 10/10, looking forward to coming again. I'm a huge fan of Sunday lunch, and have enjoyed 100's in local and far restaurants & pubs, this was easily one of the best. Fantastic value at £12.95 for beef and turkey, all the trimmings and plenty of veg with extra gravy- all as a standard. More veg available on request z although it was not needed as portions are very generous. A definite roast to recommend, thank you!”
