About The Loft Ripponden

The Loft Ripponden is a small plates restaurant on Oldham Rd in Sowerby Bridge, where sharing dishes are the main way of eating and the food comes from a small kitchen. The menu includes a scotch egg, crayfish on toast and steak with chimichurri, all suited to ordering several plates for the table. The bar pours wines, cocktails, spirits and a selection of beers, including craft beers, so drinks can run alongside the food. Dogs are welcome, which means guests can bring their own dog along for a meal and a drink. Tables can be booked. Parking is on the road only, with no designated spaces.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the small plates, calling them delicious and full of flavour, with one noting how fantastic food comes out of a tiny kitchen. Dishes named include a scotch egg with a runny yolk, a medium rare steak with chimichurri, crayfish on toast and oysters, and one reviewer singles out the cheesecake. Close behind is the drinks list, with a fantastic selection of craft beers, wine and cocktails. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and welcoming, with music that still allows conversation, and the staff as friendly and helpful. The caveats are small. One diner who eats little meat struggled with choice during an American food week, though still enjoyed the philly cheese steak sarnie and tater tots. Another found parking a struggle, since it is on-road only, and one reviewer booked a table because Friday and Saturday evenings get busy. Several mention bringing dogs, and one says the staff were especially welcoming to a visiting cockapoo.

“We visited for my birthday and it did not disappoint. Scotch egg- crispy tasty and runny yolk. Steak- wall to wall perfect medium rare with zesty and garlicky chimichuri. I could go on but all absolutely faultless. 5 stars. Will be back. Hedley”

“Such a fantastic evening. The food was delicious and such variety. Staff super welcoming (especially to Bertie the cockapoo!) Cocktails, food and wine. What more can you want on a Saturday night.”

“If you've thought of going but never got around to going please do. Those of you that know the area would have been familiar with Triangle Bakery, It's only small but serves good beers, wines and cocktails, AND super food. My brother and his wife have been a few times and we have called for a drink but last night, Saturday we drank and ate there. How the chef can manage to produce such fantastic food from the tiny kitchen area baffles me, but he did. It was wonderful, small plates with delicious flavours. We booked a table as it can get busy on Friday and Saturday evening. We all know the reputation of any restaurant is only as good as the chef. Let's hope they keep him. Would we go again? Absolutely, it's a gem. Another wonderful selection of small tasty dishes. Wonderful food, great company, nice atmosphere, very satisfied.”

“2nd visit This is very local to me and I really enjoyed it. Friends birthday meal out. Few drinks and food. Parking can be a struggle as there's no designated spaces it's just on road parking. Service was great and relaxed. Changed the menu for a week. America food week. Tbh I struggled with choice as don't eat a lot of meat but I enjoyed the philly cheese steak sarnie and tater tots. Reasonably priced for our area. Would definitely go back always a warm welcome.”
