About Nicholsons
Nicholsons is a tapas restaurant in Southsea at 245 Albert Rd, serving a Spanish tapas menu of small plates meant to be shared across the table. The Ay Caramba house beer runs alongside the food, within a limited beer selection. Patatas bravas and croquetas de bacalao are among the dishes, and churros come out for dessert. Wines and cocktails round out the drinks, and a bar gives guests somewhere to sit for a drink. Walk-ins are seated without a booking. A lunch deal for two is also on offer.

Customer Review Summary
Freshly cooked tapas that arrive quickly sit at the center of the praise, with the pork ribs called the star by one diner and the pig cheeks a close second. Others single out the patatas bravas, baked mushrooms, chicken skewers, patatas alioli, albondigas and churros, and several describe the plates as plentiful and tasty. Close behind is the service, called friendly, fast and attentive, along with the decor and a lively atmosphere. One reviewer also compliments the bartender and the drinks. The criticism is mild but specific. One diner felt the dishes they chose needed more flavor and seasoning, and another found the house beer bland and the beer selection limited. One reviewer was seated without a booking on a busy Thursday evening, and a party of ten at a crowded dinner reported every dish arriving accurately and piping hot.

“I came to Nicholson’s on Sunday evening for dinner and it was one of the best decisions i have made recently! The food was exceptional, especially the Albonligas. I was also especially impressed with the service and kindness of the staff who served me and my wife. Especially from a blonde server! She ensured that the service i received was swift and enjoyable. She was also really polite and made my evening. The drinks were also especially tasty! Compliments to the bar man! The experience has really left a good impression on me and couldn’t recommend it enough! Will be returning👍”

“My partner and I were looking for somewhere to eat on Thursday evening, and a quick scroll through Maps reminded me that I’d heard good things about Nicholsons. I gave them a quick call to check availability, and we headed straight down. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent- very attentive and fast. Our drinks order was taken by a lovely blonde lady, and our food order by another lovely brunette lady. For the rest of our visit, the blonde lady brought over our drinks, food and bill, and both of them did an exceptional job. And so did the chef, the food was delicious. Really recommend the chicken skewers and the patatas alioli. We’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to friends and family!”

“Superb Tapas food that really takes you to a different place!! This was our second visit here and well again, we are just reminded of how tasty this food is and when you are eating, you just forget where you are for a moment!!! Located on Albert Road, it's in prime position on the quieter end of the street which is a bonus. We arrived with no booking on a busy Thursday evening they seated us no problem. Food was freshly cooked, arrived quickly and the taste was superb. Honestly, I could go on eating this all night. I'm already looking forward to coming back for our third visit 😊.”
