  “Very disappointing experience I ordered a Chinese takeaway costing around £80 and unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. There was a hair in the chips, the chips appeared to have been recooked the crispy duck was slimy and undercooked and the rice didn’t taste fresh The only thing we were able to eat was some of the rice, as the children were hungry. When I contacted the restaurant to explain what had happened, I was made to feel as though I was lying about the food, the lady who was dealing with is also laughing at me. They insisted on sending a driver to collect everything, despite me explaining that the food had already been dished up and had sauce on it\. We therefore had to put everything back into containers and wait for the driver to collect it. After the food was returned, I contacted the restaurant again and was still told that I was lying. Despite spending £80, I was told they would only offer a £30 refund. It’s not just the food quality that has left me disappointed, but the way the complaint was handled, Mistakes can happen, but customers should be listened to and treated with respect when they raise genuine concerns about food quality and safety. £80 spent and a very disappointing experience as we order from here once a week and have done for a long time, I certainly won’t be ordering from here again.”

  “We have ordered from China Garden Southampton for at least 5 years and the food has always been good. However the last 2 times we have ordered my husband has been sick within 5 minutes of eating (he has no food allergies).”

  “My family have ordered from China Garden for at least 15 years and, honestly, the food is great. However, over the last few years the delivery has become so poor that I can no longer order from here. Ordered at 17:15, arrived at 21:00. Phone lines were switched off so I couldn’t contact them. I had to drive to the restaurant, where I found around 10 other people with the same issue. When I arrived, I was informed that the food had just left, despite a notification over an hour earlier saying the courier was on the way.”

  “Used to be amazing quality but the last couple orders haven't been so great. Tonight will be our last order as the chips were raw & inedible which is a shame as the curry & rice noodles were ok.”

  “This was our go to Chinese takeaway for years, but sadly it has gone down hill and I would not recommend it! The service is not what it was, they often forget items, and the food quality although okay isn’t great. Also, it’s far more costly now for what it is. Shame to be honest.”

  “Food was reheated. You could tell by the holes in the lids. The honey shredded beef was nice but everything else was pretty stale or flavourless. Checked uber eats to see the reviews but wish I checked google. Shame.”

  “China garden, shirley is our number 1 takeaway. Always on time if not early, pleasant staff and a fab delivery driver who we now have banter with as we order from there quite often. Food is always hot and tastes delicious 😋.”

  “Been going to China garden for over 30 years, my mum even longer. We live opposite. Sadly the last few years the quality of the food has just got worse and worse to the point of not even being edible and the price has increased several times making it one of the most expensive in the area. The food always takes much longer than expected even when we collect and ask them to tell us if there are any delays so we don’t have to wait in the store that has poor seating. It’s really sad to see what has happened to this place. Tonight we walked down to Hong Kong inn and the food was honestly miles better than China garden and way better value for money and a familiar face behind the till. I would highly reccomend this to anyone who wants a better Chinese takeaway in the local area and can’t see why anyone would still go. Sorry China garden you have lost two massive repeat customers.”

  “Awful another disappointing order from a local Chinese takeaway! Food was reheated even the chips. Curry was congealed as reheated also if they cannot be bothered to cook fresh chips then that speaks volumes for the rest of the menu!!!! £25 wasted on these lazy poor quality takeaways. SOUTHAMPTON WHERE ARE THE DECENT FRESHLY COOKED CHINESE TAKEAWAYS???? HELP AS IM LITERALLY DESPERATE NOW”
