Quick info
About Saffron Lounge
Food arrives at the table on a trolley at Saffron Lounge, an Indian restaurant at 1 Wortley Road in Sheffield, so dishes are served out in the dining room rather than set down in advance. The kitchen works through traditional curries, with plates like chicken Rogan and lamb vindaloo, and lamb runs across the menu in several forms. Pilau rice and other sides round out an order. Guests who want something off the menu can arrange it by speaking with the manager before ordering. The restaurant opens daily in the evenings, and reservations are recommended. Collection and delivery are set up for anyone eating at home instead. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without steps, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Dogs are welcome alongside their owners.

Customer Review Summary
Service is what reviewers raise most, described as welcoming to the point of feeling like family, with several singling out the manager for checking in personally and for phoning ahead to confirm a delivery postcode. The cooking draws close behind: a pickle tray one diner called the best they had tasted, chicken Rogan praised for soft chicken and spicing that isn't overpowering, plus lamb tikka, chicken Zara, a lamb vindaloo with pilau rice and chapati, and BBQ packs that prompted one reviewer to name it their new favourite place. Karaoke nights every other Tuesday or Wednesday come up too, with one regular noting those slots get booked quickly and suggesting prompt bookings. Against this, one reviewer found the food and venue merely okay and described staff in dirty, ill fitting clothes, cigarette smell, phone use at tables and a crumb covered serving trolley. Another, initially underwhelmed, revised their review after the manager reached out and insisted on putting things right.

“I ordered a takeaway for my Mum and Dad after having a recommendation. My Dad had been craving an authentic Indian meal but mum is much more traditional. The staff are incredible and nothing is too much trouble. I discussed my requirements with the manager beforehand and he assured me that they would be able to create something for them both to enjoy. I ordered dad a lamb vindaloo, pilau rice and a chapati, mum had plain grilled lamb chops, fries and a green salad. Everything was fresh and beautifully cooked, they rang to check the postcode 10 minutes before the food was delivered and my parents were very impressed with their meal and the service and there was plenty left for them to freeze for another time. I can't rate saffron lounge highly enough, the care and attention to detail is second to none and so obvious they put their heart and soul in to making their guests feel welcome, highly recommend 😊”
