“My partner and I went here for an afternoon tea last week. The price was more than reasonable for what we got, the food was amazing, and the staff were fabulous (friendly, welcoming and very efficient). The pub itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, with the addition of outdoor seating and dining if you prefer. There is also plenty of car parking available, and a large grass area for children to play or just to sit on. My partner said it was the best afternoon tea he had ever had, and I agreed. We will definitely return.”

“I am very disappointed to be writing this review, especially as the occasion was my Mum’s 80th birthday. From the moment we arrived, there was a noticeable cold draft blowing through the restaurant. After being seated, our drinks arrived after a bit of a wait, although my dad’s lager and lime was served as a lager with just a splash of lime, rather than what was requested. The main issue was the food and service. Despite the restaurant not appearing particularly busy, our six main courses took quite a while to turn up. Unfortunately, five of the six meals had problems. The roast beef, vegetables and swordfish were all served cold, although the latter itself was well cooked. Two meals were returned and replacements were promised. While these arrived fairly quickly, they still fell short of expectations. One Yorkshire pudding was raw on the bottom, the replacement roast beef remained cold and was also chewy, and the roast potatoes were very hard. I do want to acknowledge the young members of staff, who handled a difficult situation professionally, despite having to deal with understandable dissatisfaction from our table. The duty manager also deserves credit for stepping in, listening to our concerns and working towards a resolution. She was understanding and offered a refund for one main course and one dessert. Unfortunately, there were further issues with dessert. The restaurant had run out of cheesecake, and the sticky toffee pudding was served with candy floss ice cream (still delicious), instead of the vanilla ice cream advertised on the menu, without us being informed of the substitution beforehand. When the bill arrived, the promised complimentary dessert had not initially been removed, although this was corrected when brought to their attention. Overall, what should have been a special family celebration was overshadowed by slow service, inconsistent food quality and a number of avoidable mistakes. It is particularly disappointing because we have had such a positive experience here in the past. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as there are clearly some dedicated staff members who deserve support in helping the restaurant to improve the overall customer experience.”

“Called in today at lunch time no waiting for a table but I'd recommend reserving a table at night or weekends. The service was prompt and friendly . We ordered off the lunchtime menu steak roll and chips and a fish wrap with chunky chips. The steak came with peppercorn sauce which I asked to b on the side and the fish with chip shop curry sauce .Both dishes were fantastic.”
