About Chinese Kitchen
On George St in Sheffield, Chinese Kitchen serves Sichuan and Chinese dishes through an all-you-can-eat hotpot format, where diners cook their own meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles in a dipping soup base at the table. Beyond the hotpot, the kitchen also prepares a wider menu of 66 dishes, including Minced Pork With Eggplant, Roasted Pork Trotters With Soya Beans, and Boiled King Prawns Cassero. Staff are on hand to guide diners on cooking times and what to add to the pot. High chairs are available for families with young children, and the step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. Free Wi-Fi runs throughout the space. The restaurant opens daily, and reservations are recommended. For those eating off site, both takeaway and delivery are offered. The subcategory listing also includes karaoke equipment rental.

Customer Review Summary
Hotpot draws the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly calling out the flavourful soup base, the wide range of fresh vegetables, meats and noodles for customising each bowl, and staff who step in to explain cooking times for first timers. Close behind, the authentic Sichuan menu earns notice too, with dishes like fei pian and even frogs on offer alongside a separate Chinatown-style takeaway menu, and a vegetarian and vegan menu is mentioned as generous in portion size. Several diners single out one server by name for going out of her way with attentiveness and warmth, and a fortune cookie ending and a doggy bag for a birthday set menu are recalled fondly. Complaints are less frequent but serious when they appear: one reviewer describes roasted duck that looked and tasted spoiled, calling it the worst meal they'd had, while another reports slow service, cold stuck-together noodles, and a food wait over an hour. A Christmas Day visitor also flags a £7 service charge and inconsistently cooked rice. One diner additionally notes an employee appeared to take their photo, which they found rude.

“Authentic Chinese food, mainly from Sichuan province. There are two menus, one for Chinatown-style dishes, so like the takeaway and one for the authentic dishes. They have a wide variety of dishes, many are spicy and numbing, as to be expected for food from this province. I had fei pian, which, although translate to lungs, don't actually contain any. Surprisingly, they even have frogs om the menu. Also, the cashier was really friendly, and we had a bit of a chat as there were no customers then.”

“Maggie had such a lovely smile and made us feel really welcome. She was so kind, attentive, and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. She did a great job looking after us, and her friendly attitude made the whole experience even better. Thank you, Maggie!”
