About WongTing
On Matilda St in Sheffield, WongTing serves Chinese food across a menu of 205 dishes, with the Marinade Chicken prepared as a house specialty. Dim sum runs alongside, including har gow and carrot cake, and chow mein and Ho Fun dishes arrive in large portions. Boiled fish with pickled cabbage sits on the menu too, and a banquet, set-price all-you-can-eat option is offered for those who want to sample widely. Tea and machine-made bubble tea are both available from the counter. Staff bring dishes to the table rather than leaving diners to collect them. High chairs are on hand for families with young children, and a private dining room is available for groups. The restaurant opens daily, and reservations are recommended. Takeaway and delivery both let diners eat the menu off site.

Customer Review Summary
Dim sum draws the most attention, with reviewers praising the har gow's big prawns, a well-made carrot cake, and repeated calls to try the "sei mei." Close behind, the Ho Fun impresses with strong wok hei and generous portions, and the chow mein is described as large enough to feel like good value, while one diner singles out boiled fish with pickled cabbage as a standout find. Several mention the banquet and set menus, priced around £22.50 to £24.95 per person, as offering a wide range of choices and large portions. Service draws mixed reactions: some call staff friendly and fast, while others note it takes effort to get attention, and one diner found the tea maker or a microphone announcement uncomfortably loud. A more serious complaint comes from one reviewer who was charged £5.95 for tea listed at £3.95 on the table menu and says staff responded rudely when questioned, dismissing the printed price as an error. Another all-you-can-eat diner reports being discouraged from ordering more to avoid waste. Regulars describe returning for years without a bad meal.

“Great food, the rest we don't talk about. Ho Fun had strong wok hei and portion is good, dim sum I don't have often enough to speak on but har gow had big prawns and carrot cake was perfect. Prices are very good. Service is fine, you will have to make a bit of effort to get the attention of staff. Not sure if some event was on but the aunty on the microphone was deafening, couldn't hear my own thoughts let alone my table. Also to note (maybe it varies amongst dim sum place) but no water for cleaning utensils.”

“Food was nice , not much service apart from food was putting on the table by the staff . I don’t usually give one star review , but for this time I feel they’ve deserved it. The tea was clearly priced as £3.95 on the tea menu , but charged £5.95 , when I questioned , it was answered rudely : ignore the menu on table , it was printed wrong ! You pay £5.95 ! I wonder how many times they’ve done this ?”
