About The Crusty Cob
The Crusty Cob is a small cafe in Sheffield at 72 Burton Rd, where orders are placed at a counter. Thursdays bring a meat and potato pie special served with chips, gravy and relish. The menu lists four items, including the Breakfast of Kings and the English Breakfast, and breakfast sandwiches with bacon, sausage and tomato come in a soft white breadcake. Customers who want an ingredient left out of a breakfast, such as mushrooms, can ask, and the staff swap it for something extra. Daily specials include gammon, and mugs of tea are served alongside the food.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the sandwiches and breakfast butties, with a sausage and bacon sandwich in a soft white bread cake and a bacon, sausage and tomato breadcake singled out as huge and well cooked. The meat and potato pie, mentioned with a Thursday special and its crust, comes close behind, along with a gammon special one diner calls incredible. Roast beef and chicken are described as always tasty, and tea gets praise too. Many point to cheap prices and large portions, and several say the counter staff are nice, with one noting a request to leave out an ingredient was met with an offer of extra of something else. The complaints are small. One regular who normally gets orders spot on received pie, peas and gravy instead of the chips, gravy and relish they asked for, with the chips missing, though the paper bag was written correctly. Another found a table uncleaned until they asked, and it was sorted. One reviewer says the owner searched the area to return a forgotten shopping bag.

“Never had a bad sandwich from here. I never seem to get the day right for the hot roast pork but the roast beef and chicken are always super tasty.”

“Been several times got every order 100% spot on. Apart from today 😫 Really enjoy the meat n potato pie special, but unfortunately today the order was wrong, ordered pie, Chips gravy n relish. What i got was, pie peas gravy n relish. I don't like mushy peas 🤢🤢. And chips were missing too, although the order was written correctly on the paper bag.”

“Don’t really do food reviews, but this place was worth doing one. I can to Sheffield to take my car for some work. Thought I’d grab some breakfast whilst up here and found this place on the way to another cafe I saw on my way through. The lady behind the counter was really nice and when I asked for something to not be included in my breakfast she asked if I wanted extra of something else which you never get asked anywhere. The prices were cheap and the food quality was even better! The cafe is clean although small but it seems a lot of people take out anyway 9/10 from me”
