About SALT Sheffield
SALT Sheffield is a bao bun bar on Green Ln in Kelham Island, a modern bar set in an old industrial area of town. The bar pours its own SALT keg beers alongside real ales. The kitchen sends out Karaage Bao and Crispy Pork Gyoza, with Loaded V-Cut Fries as a side. The venue holds over a hundred seats, so there is room for larger parties to drink and eat together. It is open daily, and dogs are welcome, which suits a walk through the neighbourhood that ends with a pint. The bar previously traded as Stew & Oyster before rebranding as SALT.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, from the brewery's own keg beers to a Jute Session IPA described as light and refreshing with citrus. The outdoor beer garden in warm weather comes close behind, along with a dog-friendly welcome that one reviewer calls a winner for a pint with the dog. Staff draw repeated praise as friendly and knowledgeable about what they pour, and one reviewer calls the bartender lovely. The bao bar gets a good report from one diner, who describes the Karaage Bao as well seasoned with a soft bun, and the Crispy Pork Gyoza and Loaded V-Cut Fries as flavourful. Another reviewer found the food acceptable for something cooked from frozen and expected better for the cost. Prices are the most common complaint, with several calling the place a bit pricey or on the high side, though one finds the snacks very reasonably priced and another says it is worth every penny. One reviewer notes that clear, mild beer drinkers may not suit it. One visitor found no food being served and was pointed by the barman to a nearby deli for a sandwich.

“I like this place but if I had to go to 3 pubs in the area for the rest of my life, this place would narrowly miss out. Still, it's a solid 4. Good beer and a decent atmosphere. I like the building and the space as well. Bit pricey but everywhere seems to be at the moment.”

“Customer service was absolutely excellent! The food though was acceptable for something cooked from frozen. I was definitely expecting better quality for those prices. I would definitely not eat there again but I would return for the service. The beer selection is great and the bartender was lovely!”
