About Church - Temple of Fun
Church - Temple of Fun is a fully vegan bar and restaurant at 4a Rutland Way in Sheffield, on the edge of Kelham Island, set inside a former church. The decor draws on South American religious iconography, and a confessional has been turned into a photo booth. The kitchen serves the Syko burger on a charcoal bun, a vegan roast with a beef wellington, and a popcorn brownie sundae for pudding. Gluten-free options run across most dishes, and food can be ordered from the bar, where cocktails and mocktails are on the menu. Pool, vintage arcade games and free PS4 gaming pods cover the games, while an upstairs expansion adds interactive darts and more arcade machines. Events include live music, free movie nights and sip and paint evenings. Bookings are taken with a deposit. Upstairs, the Catacombs is a space available for hire.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Syko burger, a charcoal-bun burger with onion rings or loaded bacon gouda waffle fries, and one diner upgraded to the beyond meat patty. Close behind is the beef wellington, served in the Sunday roast, which several call outstanding, including a vegetarian who hadn't enjoyed a restaurant roast in 13 years. Others praise the popcorn brownie sundae, creme brulee, cheesecake and steak and ale pie, plus mocktails like the kool aid and ginger CBD. Many aren't vegan and still say they loved the food, and the staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming. Diners also like the quirky religious decor, the confessional photo booth, gaming booths, live music and sip and paint evenings. The one caveat comes from a busy Saturday, when food took 45 minutes to arrive, and that diner had no booking but was allowed to order from the bar. One reviewer notes the religious theme may bother some family members. One diner ended the night with a free, unexpected birthday brownie.

“Fantastic restaurant that is suitable for everyone; the whole family! Decor is religious in theme so be wary if any family member is triggered by this (religious or otherwise) but ultimately it is quite welcoming to everybody. The food is exceptional, full of flavour and a vatied menu that suits everyones palate. Service was very attentive and friendly, going out of their way to support everyone who visited.”

“10/10, if you’re planning on going. DO IT!!! I got the Syko burger (charcoal bun, b12 burger, and onion rings) and cannot speak any higher of it. The onion rings are the best I’ve ever had, ever. And the burger was cooked to perfection, brought together by a bun that did NOT let it down. Reasonable pricing. And not to mention the lovely staff that made us feel so welcomed. Oh…. And did I forget to mention the free and completely unexpected birthday brownie. Turned whats been a rather unlucky birthday into the best one in years. So thank you to all the staff that contributed to our experience, and I hope to be back again to try out more menu options ☺️”

“I’ll Start by saying i’m not vegan myself, this was a suggestion by my partner, but what ever pre-existing conceptions you have of vegan food will be blown away 🤯. Everything was packed full of flavour and absolutely delicious. The table staff and bar staff were friendly, polite and made us feel really welcome from start to finish. Definitely worth a visit whether you’re vegan or not this church will definitely convert you 🤟🏻”

“a gorgeous building, beautiful decor, the friendliest staff ever. this place was 5 stars before the food even arrived. and then the food arrived. what. a. meal. we both got the beef wellington roast. I haven't enjoyed a roast at a restaurant since becoming vegetarian 13 years ago, that changed with this meal. the only negative for the entire experience is that I don't live in Sheffield”
