Quick info
About La Dolce Tavola Rugby
Set on Castle Street in the middle of Rugby, La Dolce Tavola is a small Italian restaurant that asks guests to book ahead. The kitchen works from a traditional Italian menu built around pasta and seafood, with lasagna and monkfish both listed as main courses, and garlic bread served to start. A distinctive dish, Mezze Maniche alla Posilipo, sits on the same menu. Walk-ins are welcome at the door on a Saturday night when space allows. Portions come in generous sizes.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the attentive, welcoming service, with several calling the staff the highlight of the evening. Close behind, generous portions and well-priced Italian dishes draw repeat visits, though one diner singled out a monkfish main as a standout, and another praised fresh ingredients. Honest trade-offs surface too: two reviewers describe the food itself as poor or inauthentic, while most others find it flavourful.

“I’ve been here several times and have always had a great experience. Fresh Italian ingredients, authentic flavours, generous portions, and excellent value for money. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are friendly and professional. Highly recommended! :)”

“A lovely little Italian in the middle of the town, they've welcomed us in on a Saturday night even without prior booking. As they've been really busy and couldn't answer the calls, when I tried booking in ealier in the day. Food was ok and I praise the attitude much more than the food.”

“We had the garlic bread to start, and for mains, the Lasagna and the ‘Mezze Maniche alla Posilipo.’ The food is really good, generous portions, flavourful, and well priced. However, the stand out of the evening was the service. All of the wait staff were incredibly kind and attentive, without being too pushy. We would certainly come back as we felt welcomed (and because the desserts look exceptional)”

“The food is not good here, far from authentic Italian and over priced. I’ll probably get a defensive response to this review from the owner trying to defend their terrible tasting food… Take a look at other low reviews and the terrible responses from the owner - they get negative reviews removed by reporting them to Google…”
