About Dalia’s Bistro

Dalia's Bistro is a family-run Italian restaurant on Clifton Road in Rugby, working with a wood-fired oven on the premises for its pizzas. The kitchen turns out Italian dishes for both individual walk-in diners and large groups, with set menus offered alongside the main list, including a £25 per-person group option and a £13.50 dinner special. The counter pizza service covers anyone stopping in on their own, while the room takes bookings for parties of around fifty to sixty. Dogs are welcome inside with their owners. The format runs on a walk-in basis for everyday covers, with the team handling bigger tables by arrangement.

Customer Review Summary

Across ten reviews the picture splits sharply. Several recent diners describe a standout experience with what they call real Italian food, singling out the pizzas as great and the service as friendly and attentive, with one noting the £13.50 dinner special as excellent value and another praising the generous portion sizes; a few of these visitors return repeatedly. A string of strongly negative accounts, however, centers on large group bookings at a fixed £25 per head, where reviewers report being served what they describe as industrial or frozen pizzas with the characteristic square base marks, portions of cold fries, and a Coke, in stark contrast to the handmade pizzas other customers received. Several of these accounts also describe being charged for poor value, and one names the manager as dismissive and unwilling to listen when concerns were raised, while another cites rude personnel and bills that could not be made to add up. A solitary reviewer flags the dining room’s appearance as a turnoff.

“Absolutely terrible experience — worst pizza I’ve had in 10 years in the UK. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We were a group of more than 50 people and had agreed on a set meal for £25 per person. What we received for that price was honestly shocking. The pizzas served to our group looked completely different from the pizzas being served to the other customers. Ours looked and tasted more like cheap frozen pizzas than freshly made pizzas. The quality was incredibly disappointing. And what exactly did £25 get us? One poor-quality pizza, a Coke, and a few cold fries. That is absolutely ridiculous value for money. It genuinely felt like our large group was treated as an opportunity to cut corners rather than as paying customers who deserved the same food and service as everyone else. After living in the UK for 10 years, I can honestly say this was the worst pizza I have ever had here. Extremely disappointing, overpriced, and nowhere near the standard you would expect for £25. I would not recommend this place at all. Save your money and go somewhere that actually cares about the quality of the food it serves. Shameful.”

“One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had Unfortunately, I can only leave a very negative review. We were a group of around 60 people and had agreed in advance on a fixed price of £25 per person. That is a significant amount of money, especially considering what we were actually served. The main issue is that some people in our group had already seen and tasted the pizzas from the restaurant, which clearly appeared to be handmade and of a completely different standard. What we were served, however, was entirely different: around 60 pizzas that were practically identical, with the characteristic little square patterns on the base, making them look very clearly industrial and/or frozen. The Margherita pizza we received was extremely mediocre and had absolutely nothing to do with the expectations created by the restaurant or with what we had previously been shown. To make matters worse, we were served french fries that very clearly tasted of fish, along with a very small portion of sautéed vegetables. For £25 per person, frankly, much, much more should be expected. The overall impression was that we were simply taken advantage of because we were such a large group, knowing that we had already agreed to a fixed price. If this is how groups of 60 people are treated, it is extremely disappointing. What made the experience even worse was the behaviour of the person who presented herself as the manager/owner. Rather than listening to our concerns, she simply would not let us speak, coming across as extremely arrogant and completely unwilling to have a constructive conversation. A customer can accept that a dish may not be to their taste, but they should not be treated dismissively when they are simply trying to express their opinion politely. £25 for this kind of meal is completely unjustifiable. This is not about expecting luxury, it is about value for money, transparency and, above all, respect for the customer. It is a real shame, because with a little more transparency and, above all, a willingness to actually listen to the customer, this review could have been very different. An experience I definitely would not repeat and, personally, a place I would not recommend.”

“We ate here with a group of people (all Italians, we do know our pizzas) and they served us frozen pizzas. They do have an oven and do make actual pizza, but decided to make some extra money. Awful and rude personnel”
