About Cafe Noor

Two breakfasts sit side by side at Cafe Noor, a café on Wellgate in the centre of Rotherham, where a desi and English hybrid menu runs through the day. Aloo paratha arrives with chai, a desi breakfast is served alongside the traditional English one, and Indian street food shares the kitchen with English plates. Dishes are made fresh to order, with sandwiches prepared on site, and vegetarian eaters have options including veggie samosas. The place is independently and locally owned, and no booking is needed, so you order and take a table as you arrive. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair, and seating outside gives the option of eating in the open air. Orders placed online can be packed up for eating elsewhere. The café opens Monday to Friday and closes at the weekend.

Customer Review Summary

The blend of Indian street food and traditional English dishes is what reviewers return to most, with the desi breakfast singled out as perfectly spiced and one visitor rating the paratha and chai above similar brunches found in Sheffield. Close behind are the tikka loaded fries and aloo paratha, described as made fresh to order, alongside the veggie samosas and veggie pakora, with samosa chaat and chicken curry with rice also drawing praise. Coffee has its champions too, one reviewer calling the specialty coffee rich and creamy and noting the pastries and the sandwiches made on site. Several describe approachable, welcoming service and a community feel, one likening the place to a hub. The clearest dissent comes from a diner who liked the lasagne with chips but felt it needed plenty of chutney for any kick, and whose quiche arrived fully burned after a wait they thought long enough for staff to have spotted it while packing the order.

“I Will give credit where due, the Lasagne with chips was amazing but needed a lot of the chutney to give it some life/kick . We also got a Quiche and it was fully burned. Quite disappointed as we had to wait 20 mins. This gave staff enough time to see what they had packed up.”

“I have only ordered online but the food is absolutely amazing. Have not had something I don't love. 10/10”

“A lovely cosy cafe with a fantastic range of food and drinks. I ordered a Paratha & Chai, absolutely delicious! I wanted seconds, but we were short of time. There are well known places in Sheffield offering similar types of brunch, I must say that this was the best. Will definitely be back as very welcoming and it had a community feel to it, like a hub. Well done ladies, you nailed it!”
  • Joe Jones
“Thought we'd try this local place and it was definitely worth it. Great food - good range of desi and English options. Approachable and friendly service too. Highly recommend”
  • Shazia Idris
“My son and I visited for a bite to eat late afternoon. We had the tikka loaded fries and an aloo parata. Both items were made fresh to order and were delicious. I would recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Mariam the owner was lovely, wishing her much success.”
