About Tea Pot Cafe Romford
On Market Pl in Romford, Tea Pot Cafe Romford is a cafe and tea room run on a family basis, with a menu that stretches across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Del-Boy special anchors the cooked breakfast offering, a fry-up served with a mug of tea. Orders run on table service alongside counter staff, and no booking is needed, it operates on a walk-in basis. The cafe opens daily and can get busy with a short wait, particularly on Saturdays. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Sandwiches are also available to take away for those eating off site. One practical note for visitors: the toilets sit outside the cafe, on the shopping hall floor rather than inside.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the cooked breakfasts at this family run cafe, singling out a Del-Boy special fry-up with a large portion and a sausage, egg and bacon sandwich with thick back bacon, a runny egg and fresh crusty bread. A bbq chicken panini with chips also gets a nod, and the long, varied menu is repeatedly mentioned. Close behind are the friendly staff, the clean room, and the sense of space even when busy. Several describe it as inexpensive, and one praises a strong cup of tea in a proper cup. Coffee draws the sharpest criticism: one pair left their drinks after a couple of sips, and another reviewer says the cappuccinos taste like water and milk. A longtime regular reports an overcooked omelette, cheap sausages and cheap bread on a visit after Christmas, and another finds the tea small and the food slow to arrive. Some mention a short wait on Saturdays, when the cafe gets extremely busy. One reviewer ends by saying the chips were well worth the extra charge.

“Stopped with my wife for morning coffee at this popular café, wish we hadn't. Took a couple of sips of our drinks and they were the worst coffees we've had in a very long time and left them. Perhaps the food is better but we won't be back for coffee.”

“went just after Christmas as a family of 5. I have been using this cafe for 40 years and return time and time again. I'm afraid this was not an experience i enjoyed, for the first time! my wife's omelette was grossly overcooked, the sausages were the cheapest imaginable. The bread and butter was the cheapest bread they could find. I am going to put this down to being so soon after Christmas and may try again but there are so many excellent cafes around Romford but may not. So disappointing when i have always loved this place so much.”

“A classic steadfast bastion of everything that made Romford great. Family run, inexpensive and friendly. A real sense of community in this gem. A broad café menu for any time of day means it's always worth popping in any time of day. Child friendly and accessible by public transport. Loos aren't in the cafe but on the safe floor and we'll maintained by the shopping hall. Always try and pop in when I'm in Romford”

“Absolutely loved this cafe, clean, staff very friendly, menu was easy to read and such a big choice of food. And although it was quite busy, there was so much space it didn't feel over crowded. My husband had a cooked breakfast, and I had a bbq chicken panini, which came with a bit of salad on the side, I had chips as an extra and that was an extra £2, but they was really nice chips and well worth the extra money. It was all cooked fresh, and we didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. It come to just under £20 for the two meals, but as said I did have extra chips, and a lucozade, but me and my husband both really enjoyed the food and thought it was worth the money. We will definitely be going back 😀”

“Hands down the best spot in Romford, tucked away on the far side of the market, this little gem is a generational family run cafe, I had a sausage egg and bacon sandwich taken away, it was foodgasmic the bacon was thick back bacon with a light smoke, the egg was runny the sausage was good quality and the crusty English bread was fresh and nourishing slavered in butter and brown sauce. I have been here a few times and think it’s great, and the tea is a good blend with a strong colour just the way I like it not milky and served in a proper cup not those fancy coffee dish’s. Keep up the good work guys.”
