Customer Review Summary
Praise for this Winyates takeaway centres on cheap and cheerful food that arrives hot, with friendly staff and quick service, and one longtime regular calls it their favourite takeaway. Chips earn a "very nice" from one diner, though another finds them very dry. The complaints are more detailed than the praise. Chicken balls are described as burnt and greasy, more like chicken nuggets, and the special curry draws repeated remarks that it has no beef and very little meat. Others report sweet and sour that was extremely vinegary, smaller portions than other takeaways, and a tasteless chowmein. One reviewer found the barbecue ribs and house special fried rice horribly salty, as did their husband's beef in black bean sauce. A customer of over twenty years says the taste changed once the takeaway passed to new owners. A few note the place is busy and could do with more staff. One diner left saying they would go back to their usual place after a forgotten portion of rice.

“It’s such a shame Sam Pan has gone down hill recently food wise. I noticed a change in the taste of food consistently when ordering my daughter’s food. I asked if anything has changed and if the owners are the same. Sadly this is the reason why, it’s in new hands now. I have used this takeaway for over 20 years, so it’s so sad this won’t be my local anymore after so long. I think the old owners were in business before I was born! I feel it’s also unfortunate after all these years, to my knowledge they didn’t say bye to the community or let us know of the change. Really hoping things can pick up in due course but I will have to find a new local 😢”

“Food below par. Smaller portions than other Chinese takeaways I've been too. No side with the curry included. Have to pay for rice or chips separately. No beef in special curry only small shrimp, chicken and tough pork Satay sauce was not creamy and more like a gravy Are free prawn crackers when spending over £20/£25 not a thing in redditch?”
