Quick info
About Grumpy's Bar + Wood Fired Pizza
Grumpy's Bar + Wood Fired Pizza is a pizza restaurant in Pudsey at 2 Old Combing, set inside Sunny Bank Mills in a room with large old windows. The kitchen makes Neapolitan-style pizza in a wood-fired oven, and the pizzas carry personal names, including the Benny and the Mabel. Spicy mayo is available as a dip for the crusts, and vegetarian options sit on the menu. The menu changes every so often, so the lineup shifts over time. Tiramisu is the dessert on offer. A bar runs alongside the kitchen, pouring cocktails, wine and pints of Hilltop.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pizza itself, praising the crispy yet doughy base and flavours of the Benny and the Mabel, the latter a little spicy for one diner. Close behind are the dough balls and tiramisu, which one reviewer calls the best they have had, along with a Biscoff brownie and a garlic mushroom sauce described as rich and creamy. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one party was moved when they felt cold by the door. Vegetarians report plenty of choice, and cocktails, wine and pints of Hilltop get a mention. The caveats centre on recent visits. One reviewer found the pizza lacking in nduja and chicken toppings, with some slices having none, and no one checked on their table or offered another drink after they were seated outside. Another said the pizza was tiny, did not fill the plate, and needed a garlic bread order on top because the portion was smaller than it used to be. Several others praise fast service, with food arriving in a flash.

“I usually love grumpy’s however we visited last night and I hate to say I wasn’t impressed. I would of given this feedback to staff if we were even asked if our food was ok but unfortunately no one checked in on us not even to ask if we would like another drink, I’m not sure of this is because we were originally sat outside so had paid the bill upfront but I would still expect the same service. Pizza was really lacking in toppings (should have had nduja and chicken on) which was a shame. We got maybe one of each per slice some didn’t even have nduja on. Maybe it was an off day 😒”

“Simply an exceptional experience, everything from the service to the food was amazing. - The best dough balls I’ve ever had - the best tiramisu I’ve ever had - one of the best pizzas in leeds the dough was exceptional Overall a True 5 star experience well worthy of a visit if in the area or travelling from afar it’s worth it for this gem 5/5”

“We visit a few times a year and always rate the food and staff. However last time we visited the portion size for the pizza was tiny it didn't even fill the plate and we had to order a garlic bread because it wasn't enough like it used to be. For £14 for a pizza you should be full and satisfied unfortunately seems like prices go up which is understandable at the moment but keep the portions the same. Hopefully because we came on a lunch time this was a one off and it'll be back up to standard next time.”

“Lovely place for pizza. I’ve been here many times now, staff are always lovely and pizza is always delicious. They switch the menu up every so often but always a good selection of yummy pizzas! Cocktails and wine are also lovely.”
